I love mine p-40 as well. The retract will probably have the same problem as my F4U corsair from h9. The turnbuckle will give way with a hard hit so land very gently. Also Extra glue in any Hanger 9 model in any place will help, and will not hurt.

I know this topic may be covered in many forums but I'm curious to know what kind of product you would recommend to clean the plane. Some guys at the field said that we should avoid windows cleaner type of product because they cause harm to the monokote finish.

Any suggestions?

Did you have to add any weight to balance it?

Luc,

What type of vertical performance do you get with your setup?

How do I beef up the firewall? I had an OS .91 surpass in mine and on the 12th flight I had the firewall rip clean away after I got about three feet off the ground. That was pretty spectacular when the cowl exploded! I swear it was a smooth picture like takeoff and it happened about 5 seconds after the wheels left the ground. I bought a new kit and want to do everything right. Do I use scrap blocks of balsa and 30 min epoxy to reinforce it to the fuselage? I was suspecting the engine may have a vibration to it? I meticulously balanced the prop, spinner and backplate. Thanks!

I like to take triangle balsa stock and add it to the back of the firewall/fuselage.

AFter that is dry.....I pour some 30-minute epoxy into the firewall area from the rear thru the tank opening....and let it roll around.....sealing it all 360 degrees.

Did yours not have any triangle stock on the firewall! Mine did right out of the box. It was the only H9 arf I've seen that didnt need any firewall reinforcement. I understand that just because its there doesnt mean it was glued sufficiently. This is actually the only H9 arf I own. I considered all the others poor workmanship in the firewall area based on what I've seen from others planes.
