Liberator,
That does sound like who haw but I wouldn't know! Where did you see the video? I checked the sight but didn't see it.
This might be something I want to do since in need to re-align the nose (re-build more like).

I think this well take you to the video. He has music playing but you can still hear the motor, pretty nice.

I was able to just purchase 2 standard 3.5 inch spinners from Dave Brown products and then I had a local powder coater cover them for 5 bucks each total cost is less than a Tru-Turn 2 blade 3.5 inch if anyone is interested.

Hi Jeff,

what spinner and propeller are you using? Looks pretty good.

I've finished mine and just about to do the maiden flight.

Hi,

I'm using the same engine. Had to put 4 oz in the top of the cowl to make it CG at 3.5". I've read many postings about the CG mark beeing moved a little to avoid nose-in behaviors. I will try it that way and add weight if necessary.

What's all the fuss with the firewall? Is it that weak?

I'm just about to make the maiden flight with my P-40.

The only problem I had was one of the retract's wood support that started to move. Had to epoxy it and then worked well. I also crushed one of the wing's "rib" about 4" from the fuselage while epoxying the two wings halves together (I have strong hands and use to car mechanic...). The rest of the wing is very solid though.

The plane was tail heavy and I had to move the receiver and battery to the front. Also added 4oz in the cowl. Too bad I had to make those big wholes in the cowl to put the muffler through and have access to the motor's adjustment screws.

One other remark; for my next project, I will probably choose a Graupner kit. I just don't have enough time on my hands to do all the nitsy gritty work - fixing canopy, pilot, hinges, etc. etc. But this is a very personal choice.

Hi Jeff,

I'm just about to do the maiden flight with the P-40.

My stab was epoxyed as recommended in the instruction manual. It seems to hold well. What else can I do? Should I avoid acrobatic manoeuvers?

I wouldn't worry too much unless you like to dive at full throttle. Just be prudent with the throttle and you should be fine. Good luck!
Fly it scale and things are good.
