i have an acme NB16 and broke it in by starting it and letting it idle for 3 tanks
then after 3 when i started my fourth, i gave it small amounts of throttle until break in was done at 6 tanks
was this a good method of breaking it in?

Status: offline 		I prefer not to idle much, but to start to drive around and break-in at varying throttles (WOT not neccessary yet). This way the temperature
builds up faster.

Your engine should be fine. How long an engine lasts depends on how you look after it, not just run-in.
Eg:Use good fuel, clean filter(s), tune it correctly, don't rev-out for long periods.

I buy my fuel from a shop next to an rc racetrack. The shop sells quality items (novarossi,rb,serpent..)and the owner and his customers race
at championship levels. If the fuel is good enough for their expensive mills, it's definately good enough for mine.

Status: offline 		When breaking in my new engines I start them up let them idle for about 30 seconds and drop them on the ground and drive them easy till the temperature gets up to around 200 degrees then I shut it down and put the piston at BDC (Bottom Dead Center). Then I repeat depending on the engine how many times I do this but at least 8 tanks. What I do is basically the heat cycle method. There are other ways of doing it but I have engines with over 9 gallons still running so I will stick with this method.

Status: offline 		hello there i need to know i am geting a mt2 with the G3.0 amd where i am it is about 30 or so out side is it safe to breake it in the temp or should i let it worm up a lil

Status: offline 		Should be OK but I recommend wrapping the head with aluminum foil and preheat it with a heat gun. I always preheat my new engines when breaking them in no matter what the outside temperature is. This helps take stress off the new tight engine.

In 2000 they did not have the MT 2 they had the MT 1 and it came with a 15FE.

Yes keep it wrapped when breaking in or even after break in when it is cold out. You want your engine to run at least 200 degrees. Some even will wrap a sock around it over the aluminum foil if need be. Sorry where I live it does not get real cold for long periods of time. I just broke in my engine on my new Kyosho 09 and it was about 55 degrees out and I still wrapped the head to get the temperatures up do to running so rich at break in settings.
