I've been building and flying model airplanes since about 1949 or 50, I don't remember quite which. However I do remember it was 1952 when I got my first "big airplane". It was a Trixter Barnstormer and of course I powered it with the Fox 35. Over the years I never quite forgot that airplane and indeed build another one around 1970.
For the last five years or so I've been thinking about building and R/C version of the famous control line stunter. This past week I finally managed to finish the project and do my test flying. I am pleased with the results over all, for sure there will be a couple of changes made to the plans for version 2 but overall this old stunter does fairly well for R/C.
At this time I just wanted to share this with someone else. So enclosed is a picture of version 1. If anyone whishes any more information email me and will discuss further.
Frank

Nice job there. On the same vein would you believe that we converted the old Ringmaster profile and flew it with a Fox 25 plain bearing motor. It flew fine.

Yes, I believe it. you can use less power for the R/C version because it doesn't have to drag 60' of steel cable around a circle. My plane started out with a K&B.28 but I dropped down to a .20. Did you move the CG forward to compensate for the short tail?

P.S. Here I am with my 1st Barnstormer circa. 1952

Acobra, It was quite a few years ago. We didnt even hook up the rudder, flew it as a 3 channel with strip ailerons . This plane had a very good roll rate and had that famous Ringmaster glide path which was get to the field fast. We used no landing gear on it and I don't remember doing anything else other then making sure that the balance point was correct. Alas it met it's demise when someone forgot it didn't have a rudder and actually got it into a spin, of course there was no recovery and it was damaged., not enough to be destroyed but it just never got repaired
