I'm not going to get caught up in the whats better debate, because neither is really better. The question is whats better for you. For some guys its nitro, for others its electric.

You might want to consider trying an electric vehicle before you quit RC completely.

electric can get as expensive as nitro. but it is possible to put a cap on the spending budget. I got a electric rc and it was 100 then I got a 50$ motor and a 85$ charger and 50$ worth the batteries. and I was happy with its performance. ya the car was a pice of **** stock. but it was a nice start to the hobby.

If I where you I would take your rustler and throw it in the closet. run electric for a while. once you get the hang of it dig out your nitro and see how you like that. Nitro seems to have more maitnance, but that is part of the fun. alltho electric can have maitnance issues to,,,with charging the cells correctly. Oh I could go on for ever on nitro vs electric but I like both. one just as much as the other.

nitro is soo much more frustrating !! dude, i had a mini-t and i would bash that thing like crazy!! but w/ nitor, im scared to death cuz if i crash it, that thing would cost me like 50 bux. not to mention the constant mantience. The nitro has batterie packs, have to tune, have to break in, have to make sure no loose screws, failsafe, spring (like failsafe), runafter, cleaning (takes me 15 minutes alone) and so on and so on. Maybe i should quite rc in general.

Man, with your kinda attitude, maybe you should quit RC. Don't sell your truck though, cos in 5 months or so you'll be begging for it back...

Wow talk about bad day. LOL. We have all had them though. Fogetting nitro is an awesoome idea though. Before you go electric though try looking into gas powered. There bigger there meaner they are alot less maintenance and while more expensive initially you are no longer paying stupid prices for nitro just regular pump gas and some oil mix and you are off and running. FG makes some good vehicles, but if you want to keep the price down go with the duratrax firehammer, comes with a 1 year warantry on the plastic parts and replacements for the mpost part can be got from your local hobby ashop or from places like tower hobbies, the engine has a 3 year warantee, when was the last time you had a nitro or electric powerplant with a warantee like that. XTM also makes a version of the firehammer comes without the radio and servos so its a bit cheaper but no one year warantee on the plastic stuff. You could also look at some of the older cars like a raco jackrabbit but parts are hard to come by or another good choice is the traxxas monster buggy which is a seriously fast car and great oval racer but not a great jumper. What ever you decide though try to have fun

Remember that this guy is 15, I think large scale is impossible for him financially.

Nitro is not for beginners. Which is exactly what you sound like.

My friend bought a t-maxx just because he saw his friend with one. He crashed it during break-in causing $60 in damage...
Then when it was fixed he drove it like he stole it, WOT all the time, engine must of been 400 degrees, sucked at driving too.

Came to my house and drove it terribly, ended up breaking front skide plate, transmission, motor mount, tank, etc. Also his piston and sleeve is BLACK... He doesn't know **** he's doing. Also he had switched fuels which made it run just luvely. Now hes telling me hes going to sell it because its to much for him... ($ to repair) And btw hes 15.

i think they just need to learn some patients everyone can rember being that age and how they thought they knew everything...... ( i know i did) but if they were to slow down and think about whats they are doing and why these things are happing and ASK FOR HELP they might have an enjoyable time with nitro and learn something in the process that just my 2 cents though

Yeah, I've been into both, and both are cool. Electric is more user friendly to start with, but now that I've had a lot of nitro experience, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm out running while my buds are charging batts.

jandb917,
I FULLY agree with your sig, lol. I'm a big DEI fan, and there's nothing like seeing rainbow colors all over the wall, lmao.

im new to nitro and the first 2 weeks of owning my thunder tiger dt10 i was ready to take it back and throw it at the guy that sold it to me. once i took it back and asked him to help me sort it it ran like a dream. im glad i didnt get rid of it. a good thing about electric though is that theyre not too noisy to run in housing areas when people dont want to hear a nitro car ragging around.

Sorry to say but if your whinin' about 15 minutes of clean-up after a day of running you clearly don't have the patience for nitro right now.

I just bought a nitro car. ive never had anything better than the old nikko,s that you could get from the local department stores. Recently i was in an accident and by going stir crazy i bought my nevst. i could't get that damn thing to run for nothing. yes it frustrated the hell out of me. but it kept me busy with the reading and research i had to do to get it running. and by the great people that come to this forum it now runs like a rapped ape and i couldnt be happier. i feel that you have to be smarter than the car and be able to prove it. IT IS A TOY! dont ever forget that and youll be fine. forget it and it will drive you mad.

what you need is someone who knows a lot about nitro cars to set it up and fix things when they go wrong. once theyre running smoothly theres nothing quite like them. theyre loud, fast and go over pretty much anything. brilliant.
