john, 200 off peak on the ground without inflight mixture control is too lean for most fuels, if you were using the sport type fuels that usualy have around 15-18% oil, and set the needle for 200 off peak on the ground, then it was too lean once under way. was there any type of break in process done or was the eng. bolted on, set for 200 off and sent up ? not flaming you here but your post is "a little" vague in discription, completly lacking in a detailed discription and history, including, fuel, prop, breakin, tach, or by ear, etc., and all too offten the failed part is blamed, when it was in fact the user's fault, not saying you, but without all the fact's, who's to say what really happened ? . I have used os engines for years in the most hostle invirement ( ducted fans ) and have never had a part fail, i have seized them, but that was my fault in getting them set perfect ( so i thought ) on the ground only to have them seize seconds or mimiuts into the flight, and that is with special jet fuel that uses 23% oil . I am planing to use a 160 fx in a dynaflite super decathalon, and have spoke with dozens of people running this eng. who could'nt be happier with the 160. your post is the first negitive thing i have ever heard about the 160 fx and it scared me, so i ( we all ) would like to know more imfo. in detail so an imformed opinion could be made ! regards, scott
