Bob,

I have a question. How do you extend the length of the needle? Most engines have a setscrew where you can put a piece of music wire in, the jett does not.

Just curious, I got a big cowl to go around this engine, and figure I'll need at least a 4" extension.

Hi Dave,

I posted a reply to this yesterday......... but for some reason it disappeared...

Instead of using an extra long needle, use Jett's remote needle valve. He ships all of the BSE engines standard with the remote, and as an option on the SJ engines.

Mount the remote on the firewall near the edge of the cowl and you can use the regular needle. I have 3 airplanes set up with the remote installed like this, definately the way to go

This is the remote installed in my mustang with the Jett .46

With the remote installations, you will want to run a 3rd line for fuel fill/drain. I have mine set up with inexpensive fuel buttons. Makes for a nice installation.

Also, because of where this is positioned, I cut a slot in the cowl from the needle opening to back edge. I can remove this cowl without removing the needle. The Edge 540 install requires that I remove the needle (no big deal really).

Something similar in the corsair would work well.

BTW, I started flying the mustang with an APC 12x4 this weekend. SJ46 and turbo will turn that about 14,000 rpm. I set it at 13,400, and it unloads nicely in the air. I had been running a 10x6 at 15,500/14,600. Prop change did what I wanted... slowed the plane down a bit, and also helps on slowing down for landing. Lost a little bit of vertical, but nothing to cry about

Good idea Bob. I have a couple of the remotes on my Q40 engines, but had not thought of using one for this application. Whats another $25.

I'll be sure to get you some pictures of my Corsair/Engine for the Hall of Fame. I can't wait to get this done, and fly it. Should be a rocket.
