Well it is finished! Dry weight is 12 pounds 2 ounces. Unless of course my scales are junk. If I am not mistaken the advertised weight range is 11.5 to 15.5 so I think they are ok. I will try to post a flight report if weather permits this weekend. No lead was needed to get the CG right with the OS 160.

that means it should easily hit the 12 lb mark with the YS140 or the OS 160. and thats not doing extras to shave weight.. the only kicker to glow would be the larger tank.. I usually run Li-Pos so the battery weight isnt much. if you get on a weight cutting spree you could probably go lower..

from post 105 man im a good guesser

AWESOME!!! Now lets just hope that motor can pull this thing out of a hover!

BTW, for those of you that already have the plane, what is the diameter and length of the wing tube??? I have a TBM for a H9 Funtana that I haven't built and will probably sell to get this plane. It's diameter is 1.25", I believe, and I forget the length...

How 'bout this one from post 88?

quote:

ORIGINAL: proptop

I checked one out at the LHS today...
Looks real good, and built nice and light. I don't think it would come in at quite 15 lbs. though.
My guess would be more like 12-13 with a light engine and equipment. I was also thinking maybe an O.S. 1.60 or Saito 1.80 (because that's what I already have )

I had a WM 27% PW Extra (with a 3W-50 ) for awhile, and this new 260 feels substantially lighter, structure wise...

How about a ZDZ 40? I got a friend who's got an "extra" one lying around...hmmm

One of my OFB's bought the one I looked at...he's using an O.S. 1.60 too.
We weighed the individual components and got right around 8 lbs. also. (don't know exactly how accurate his old scale is )

Looks like I gotta get another one?!

Good guess drumbum! I would love to get some pics of the build in here. I think that when a bunch get flying we will all know how good this plane is.

I want to know the setup for an all out 3d plane! Thats all wnd when I build it I will make no compramises and spend all the money I can to get it to fly better than Mike's.

I flew the desert aircraft H9 Extra 260 at the Joe Nall event. Flew very light with a DA50 (ungodly power to weight ratio). The airplane had no mixing and flew pretty well. High alpha flying is fairly stable for small gasser. Only thing tank is in front and CG is affected as fuel consumes. Overall not bad for the price. But it can't be compare with Extreme flight and Quiqes Yak 54. I got a chance to fly Quiqes prototype 50C and this fly's better the most 33% planes out there. Absolutely no roll coupling and the 3D package is awesome.

Well my Goldberg Sukhoi rocketed out of a hover with a Saito 150 and it was 11 pounds 2 ounces, the OS 160 has 1.2 more horse power at almost the same RPM so if it won't carry snacks to the space station from a hover well then I will just need to up the nitro from 20% to 30% and get a little more power. I knew that posting my plans here was gonna cause some arguements I just want to proove that you don't have to spend a fortune to have a good 3D machine. I don't think a 2 to 1 thrust ratio is needed it helps but for those who can't afford the DA 50 and things like that should know there are alternatives. Yes I could have ordered a DA50 for it can mufflers the whole nine yards but I just didn't want too. I want a plane that I can put in the air have fun with and not worry about how much money I will loose if it goes in. I have just under a grand in my setup minus the receiver. You can have that much in a 90 size. I think it will do fine so do many others and weather permitting we will find out tommorow!

don't have any experience with that engine, but I imagine it turning an 18X6 in the low to mid 8000 range. If that's the case, or close to it, the no.

Come on. Of course it won't. I doubt it will even hover, much less fly.

Sorry I was stupid and didnt even think.......... well it seems week for that plane to me but, Oh well.

I got the combined airtime and rc cars magazine from horizon today and the plane looks sooooooo nice. Oh how I wish it was like 30% with a 87'' wingspan. Why, Why so small. It is a big misfit. Would of been better with more wing but we will see how the flights go.

I am going to croatia for a week in a half tomorow on a missions trip with my school so I will be lookiing foreward to flight reports and vids and pics on the plane. I am still considering it! Maybe with that OS 1.60 it will be a 3D monster. it could be that way?

Triton 3-D,
I had asked Mike McConville about a Zenoah for the plane, and he told me the only Zenoah that would be light enough would be the G-26, so I dont see why the 28 wouldnt fly it...the key word being "FLY".
Would probably just be enough for Basic IMAC/ Aerobatics but nothing more.......

BR289... That Zenoah would be just fine for you as I know you only go around racetrack pattern anyway. It just might be a little tough in the fall when the corn is high.
