Status: online 		Finished the mounting of the air fill valve on a removable plate in the front wheel well and the power switch mounted inside the fuselage with a push-pull wire that extends into the front wheel well.

Status: online 		Decided that the off/on push-pull wire was a little too long so I shortened it at the switch end and reinstalled everything.

Status: online 		The fuel line arrangement is a little tight but after working through the problems it turned out fine. I use heat shrink on the ends of the hemostats to keep from damaging to tubing. The short fuel line returning fuel from the pump to the tank was connected while the engine was part way installed. I need to add a small filter on the line going from the fuel loop to the pump and a one way check valve on the top vent line that is hanging down from behind the engine. I need to order the filter and check valve though.

All the air lines for the retracts are plumbed and the system as been tested. I need to grind the flat spots on the gear legs for the set screws. Dislike that job.

The CG looks good and there is a lot of room to move the battery around above the fuel tank and behind it to adjust the CG.

Status: online 		I completed the installation of the filter on the fuel line from the fuel loop to the engine and the one way valve on the tank vent. I don’t believe these small outside diameter filters are available anymore. The filter has a small piece of heat shrink on the outside to keep it from fretting against other parts. I need to figure out a more elegant solution for the vent line.

Status: online 		My new backup OS 61SF ABC-P arrived today and is in perfect NIB condition and matches the NIB engine installed in the Tiporare. Thank goodness for ebay!

Have you flown this beautiful bird yet? I love these early pattern ships - they sure look nice.

You've done an excellent job with your Tiporare - keep us posted.

PS - I can't belive your wife allows you to put your aircraft on that pristine carpet

Status: offline 		This stuff sure brings back memories. I was a teen when the Tiporare class planes were the rage. My first "real" pattern engine was an OS .61SF! I've still got it and it still runs like a top. I ended up running an extension on the header. Mine was an early MACS pretuned one that was designed for the FSR series before noise issues forced lower rpms. To get it on the pipe with a larger loaded prop required a longer length. If memory serves right, about 2 inches extension on the header.
Dirty Birdy, Phoenix, Tipo, - I couldn't wait for the day I could afford a pattern ship.
Now I fly an old Piorun Eclipse with a YS .91.

Tony,

Thanks for your positive input! I haven’t flown it yet because I’ve been procrastinating on the job of grinding the flat spots on the gear legs but I’ll get that done soon. Not one of my favorite jobs so I’ve got to be in the right mood. RC aircraft are OK on the carpet if they are brand new, clean and have not been fueled or flown! After they fly they are relegated to the shop!
