In AXI motors such as the 2208/34, 2212/26 the first two digits are the stater dia. in mm. the second two are the motors length-
The numbers after the slash are the number of windings on the motor.--So the 2208/34 has a 22mm Dia. stator that is 8mm long, and it has 34 turns of wire etc.

The 2212/26 can handle props 9 to 11 in. in dia. at power levels up to 125 watts.
The 2208/34 can handle props 8 to about 10 in. dia. just be careful, it could be pushed to about 10 amps before heating up quickly.

Just in case your wondering I got all of this info. out of Fly RC magazine.

Got to maiden this bad boy today, and wow, it's freakin awesome... Knife edge is just ridiculous, small knife edge loops, only a little coupling that doesn't really need mixing... flatspins are good, nice and flat with very little aleron input required, and with the right input, it looks like it almost wants to climb... it hovers and torque rolls nicely, but I'm having trouble getting my CG back far enough for it to really lock in good, the only thing that I might not like is the aleron authority while flying, it has an ok roll rate, but more couldn't hurt... The maiden took only a little down elevator trim, and once leveled out, inverted flight required very little input... Slow speed handling is pretty good, and with a 10x3.8 the plane slows down pretty quickly, came in really hot for the first landing, but still put it down without bouncing (this landing gear is pretty nice) and had it stopped way sooner than I thought... The hacker a20-20L with a TP 1300 3 cell lipo had pretty much unlimited vertical, but i'm going to try a 12x3.8 with a 1500 polyquest 3cell to see if it can be improved

Im on my second one. By far, it is my favorite electric at the moment. Im running two servos for the ailerons, and I cut the wood elevator and rudder arms down and drilled new holes, and got the deflection I was looking for. But if your flying in wind, dont get fancy on the landing and mess up cross wind, or you will snap the fuse in half. But if you do that, just glue it back and fly it again. Im running the axi 2212/26 with a Thunder Power 1320 3cell and an Eflite 20 amp esc and a apc 11X4.7 prop. This thing is a rocket. I quit flying my big gas planes for a few months because I could take this to work and fly it 17 minutes on each charge and that is flying like Im trying to kill it! Plus, no drive to the feild and dealing with all that headache. I keep it in my truck and show it off ANYWHERE! My favorit place to fly is in my front yard under the street light at two in the morning. Chasing the pizza guy is fun too. This plane is addictive as crack! I have two more in the box for when I plow it into the ground.

Emnm,

Congrats on a sucessful maiden. This is an awesome little plane...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chopper,
Yea, I'm gonna pick up another one tomorrow, have it ready to fly by the weekend. I feel naked without my Yak. I want to fly all the time, that's why I took it to work and (stupid ass) crashed it from radio interference. I should have suspected there would be trouble in the parking lot... but no, I'm just too comfortable with it, and fearless is dangerous. At least it's only $60 and 6 hours work to put another one up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Happy flying all... I think this must be the best little foamie out there it this class.

Does anyone get real bumbed when they miss there flight?

cant wait to get this fu(ker up in the sky ,,,, I like to cut the motor when my yak54f gets up there ..and just glide sometimes. .....its usually not mentioned when it comes to a 3D plane but i give the yak 54f props for gliding real nicely and never landing hard always seems to be feather like ...i know its a bigger foamie but my yak 54f really is lighter then what i was used to heavy balsa power gliders or even the heavy mustang p51d

by the way....when i was hovering yesterday like 3 or 4 dudes with there mini simple fliers all asked what plane i had and where to buy it so except a couple more yakers here soon!!

thanks Tman, I got to put about 3 more batteries through it today, in 5-10+mph winds... I wouldn't have even tried flying in this kind of erratic gusty wind, but from what I read I wouldn't have any problems with the yak, and I didn't... The stability of this plane in wind is really impressive for a foamy, I still can't get over the landings either... it comes down like a feather, and really smooth... I've broken the wheel pants, but that was from turning too fast on the ground and the gear starting to shake...

One of the other guys was flying a mini funtana with the owner on a trainer box, and they let me fly it around for a little while too, its a pretty nice plane too... after watching the roll rate it had, and comparing our aileron sizes, I knew something had to be wrong with my setup... The next flight I kept an eye on my ailerons and what do you know... full deflection on the ground was around 30 degrees... I wasn't even getting 10 degrees in the air... The HS56hb just didn't have enough stank to push both sides, so I swapped it for a HS81, and with about 30 degrees on the ailerons, it rolls reeeeealy good... I have to reccomend the hs 81 for the best performance to weight, it is lighter than 2 hs56's and has 2 oz more torque, I think it is a touch heavier than two of the 50's and 55's, but the torque is well worth the minute weight gain...

I can't wait to get some more batteries and fly this plane at my house... I'm sick of waiting on the charger

Bought the last one at the LHS today... just opened it up to start the build. It's crushed in the wing area and bent in the tail... UGH! Back to the drawing board.

I think this build will take advantage of some ideas for improvements...

I am changing out the pull-pulls for CF control rods and normal horns this time. I'll re-position the rudder servo on the side oppoiste the elevator servo (not on bottom), and moving it back 1/2" to help balance with the TP1320 up front. Should be AWESOME and far less fragile . The pull-pull tension on the elevator side was making the fuse curve noticably, like a guitar string. This mod will allow me to use regular horns and get BIG throws too, without fabricating oversized servo arms for the Hitec HS-55's.

I'll also put some thin flat CF bars on the full length of the fuse on the bottom edge to beef it up. Mine never broke, even when it exploded into that truck, but too many are complaining of the fuse snapping in the middle. I fly with a pro IMAC pilot sometimes. He had one of these Yak's, and he flys HARD. Today he told me his snapped in two in flight doing snap-rolls. Maybe that's how the stunt got it's name?

Got some bigger wheels, Dubro Ultralites, weigh less and 20% larger diameter and wider too for those dirt landings we always do.

It should be a better bird this time...

I flew mine from two am. till around five am. on and off between the Yak and my Tensor. I was hovering the Yak when I notice a car driving down the street and I guess the battery was pooped and it fell and cracked in half. Some glue, some accelerator, a pepsi, and it was back up. Insomnia has its privliges. I think Im going to take it to the feild in the morning and show the local "U-can-do" air force, what the foam is all about. They will crap themselves when they see me catch it from a hover. I bet they will even break out the sacred AMA handbook and do a voodoo AMA curse on my RX.

did you forget to set the timer on your controller? because thats not supposed to happen
[battery was pooped and it fell and cracked ] the 20 amp e flite esc has a cut off where the motor pulses at high speed only when batt voltage is low....which esc are you using?
good to here you were able to fix it...the yak54f seems to float down without power
were you inverted?

Not inverted, about five feet from the deck over my neighbors driveway. Looking over your shoulder to see what car is coming dosent help either. I have an Eflite 20 amp esc. Its now two in the AM and I have allready gone through two battpacs. I feel like a tweaker! Flying late at night is fun, but enough is enough! I need to sleep at night instead of the day. Maybe a job would cure that, but Im having too much fun. Glue is cool, and accelerator is better!
