I have been flying for about two years on my Hanger 9 easy2 trainer. I have been recommended to the 46 size cap232 as a fun flyer that could start aerobatics. I was wondering if someone could help me decide between the World Model or the Kyosho . I am not looking for the most aerobatic, but the one that will hold up the best without a lot of reinforcement. They are also both ARFs Thanks for any Help!

Easy 2 to 40 size CAP is a long leap. Perhaps you should consider something a little tamer like a Tiger or 4 Star. Both of those are great aerobatic trainers. Even a TWIST would be easier to fly than a CAP.

I would suggest the World Models over the Kyosho model. Several different people at my field have had (past tense) Kyosho CAPs. While the construction was good, the flying left "something to be desired". Everyone of these people said the plane did not handle well in the air and had bad tendencies toward tip stalling.

While I have not flown a CAP, I can say that the World Model planes I have are well built, very complete, have good hardware (for the most part) and fly very well with no bad habits.

Thanks for the help! I am sorry if i made it sound as though i have only flown a trainer, my friend taught me to fly low-wing on his 4 star. The trainer is just what i have. I think the World Models will be a lot of fun. Thanks again!

Kyosho has seen its glory days come and gone. Compared to the current crop of ARFs, WM included, Kyosho ARFs are too expensive and too small.

I still think you might be better off with a constant cord low winger, like the 4*, for your 2nd plane. CAP is a good flier and doesn't deserve the SNAPPY reputation, but there is a reason for that reputation. It isn't too hard to make a .46 size CAP a bit too heavy, and that can spell trouble. If your budget only allows you to have one primary flier, better a docile 4* that flies for a whole season than a CAP that lives a few flights.

Take a look in the kit building section for a ton of mods for the 4 star including cowling

There is also an article in an old RCM issue about cowl construction for planes like the 4*. If you are anRCM subscriber, you can download it from their website.

You may not be ready for a "snap" 232. They ain't toys & they ain't forgiving. They get off the ground easily enough, but an inexperienced pilot can get one back on the ground all too quickly. It would be OK if you were on a buddy box for a while with an experienced instructor.

I have the Cap232. I like it. It flys well in the wind. But they do have a bad reputation and I feel it is somewhat deserved. It isn't a very "honest "plane. They are built well. Mine is about 5 years old now and still looks good. I did have to replace the plastic cowl with a glass one a year ago. I do think this plane will bite the inexperience pilot in a heartbeat. So I really don't know what to tell you. I am not familiar with your trainer. It seems all of the other Cap's I have seen around have met an early demise. I would suggest the Great Planes Super Sportster. I believe it is offered in ARF form now. It is a very honest plane and can do anything a Cap can.
