I don't think helicopters fly under control.I flew helicopters in the Army for 20 years and I can't remember any time when they were really "under control".They just beat the hell out of the air and sort of move around. And any landing you make is a good one.If you don't break anything,it's even better.

I think the old saying is:

"Helicopters don't fly, they just beat the air into submission."

Personally i couldnt do without my super skids and they were the first upgrade i did to my heli. They must have saved me a small fortune on parts due to hard landings. My esc packed in the other day while the heli was 7 foot in the air. Motor quit and the heli dropped straight flat on the superskids, no damage!!! Peronally i would rather sacrifice a few seconds in the air to have a stronger more reliabe heli. Anyway got a decent lipo and got my time back plus some!! :-)

    Dave,

I just put the new hs-55 in the heli. It's very small compared to the original & the clips won't grab it, etc. What did you do to make it fit snugly? Now I'm afraid to try it!

    drobin,

I appreciate your candor, though I was hoping for some help. I'll keep that in mind on my future attempts. Landing hasn't been a problem, garvity works real well around here, not breaking anything, well that's the trick isn't it.

I'm not getting the FMS simulator at all. I can hover 1 of them, but the rest are just all over the place & I can't seem to see a pattern. I really would like to figure at least some of this out before I attempt to (break any parts) fly!

    Chuck

I really wasn't trying to be funny. The only thing is practice.I've been at it for a while now, most of it in my family room,7 by 9 foot area.A lot of broken parts. And not doing too well. When I can get outside,I find I do a lot better.Have you tried the Radd's system. He has a 10 step plan the helps. The most important thing is not to give up.It is a lot of fun.You just have too keep trying.

On your servos,I use plastic wire ties to hold mine in snug.If worse comes to shove,I've used a touch of hot glue.It will hold but easy to take off when you need to change the servo.

    Chuck,

With the simulator, you might like to try HELI-X. http://www.heli-x.info/download_e.shtml

It's free like FMS, but has only just been released (so it's up-to-date, I guess, unlike FMS which has not been updated for years)

I haven't tried it yet as I only downloaded it the other day - (busy at work and building my A4 Phantom EDF!!)

It's designed for heli's only and it seems to be getting good reports on Heli-freak.

Let me know how you go if you try it before I get around to it!

    Cheers, Bill!

Superskids kept me in the hobby, I must have broken around 6 sets of the stock landing gear with lots of CA in between. Ive had them on for almost a year and a half now and now the DF4 is the lets try anything heli so it gets beaten around and I still have not managed to break them.

Im using a Superpack 1300mAh with the stock motor and am getting over 15 minutes of flight time.

    Cheers

hey guys, ive had a 4# for quite some time, im getting it ready to go back together (as soon as my lipo's and superskids arrive it sould be good to go) my problem is i pulled the controller apart some time ago! i have no idea why i done it but im sure there was a reason, anyway there are like 6-7 plugs that have to be plugged into the circuit board and i have no idea where they go...

does anyone have a picture to help me out? or something along those lines

Could you have been changing the mode over?

Anyway Ive pulled one apart before and its fairly easy to put back together Ill see if i can get a photo for you tonight.

Just to make sure its the plugs from the sticks and the battery meter correct.

    Cheers
