Has anyone found a good (and inexpensive) source for the head bearings in the 4#-1? They are 3x6x2. They come with the rotor head but I usually need only the bearings.

Does this happen to anyone else? The pop off rotor is cool but every time mine pops off one of the bearings flys off, sometimes both and are usually lost. I have found a partial solution but man, my time is worth more than this frustration. I have a large donut shaped magnet that I have tied to a cord. I drag the magnet around the area where I lost the bearings. Sometimes I find them. Tonight was a bonus. I found the two that flew off and one from about a month ago so ended up with three. I would rather buy a dozen and just have them.

By the way, if you use the magnet concept be sure and blow the bearings off with high pressure air as they become slightly magnetized and pick up their own stuff.

I am thinking about making a bunch of Delrin bushings rather than the bearing and carry a bag of them to the flying site. Any thoughts on that idea?

Any sources are appreciated.

Mate,

try a little bit (not too much) CA glue on the inside of the bearing before you push the bearing onto the plastic head.

my esky honey bee king canopy fits my walkera 4 with no modifications, and i have superskids...

I don't think the shielded bearings have any significant advantage here, except to keep out dust.

Thanks for all of the responses with my question a page back. I haven't decided which # 4 I want to get now and I didn't know there were three versions of the #4 - 3 so I'll have to look into that as well.

I just was putting the new bearings on to replace the ones that fell off during my flipover manuever when I saw your post. Great idea. I tried it & accidentally knocked the blade holder off a couple of hours later putting on the Super-Skids & they were rock solid! No they spun good but didn't fall off the posts!

It does work and sometimes not. I have lost bearings after they are glued on. I think it is that CA in a plastic metal bond is not the best but better than nothing. One trick to keep the CA out of the bearings is to just start the bearing on the shaft then put the CA by a small pointed object inside the bearing bore. Then press it home with a paper towel or something to catch the glue that is pushed out. Oil in the bearings also keeps the CA from getting a grip. If you put the glue on the post then you cannot control where it goes when you press the bearing on.

I replaced the Walkera servo I damaged early on with an HS-55. I've been reading this post (up to pg 100! so far) & everyone seems to say change them both out.

OK, so last night I temporarily unplugged the remaining Walkera & plugged in the new HS-55 which is laying on the bench just to make sure it was OK before I made the swap. It moved smotthly but when I put it back to center stick I heard a noise. I picked it up & it was vibrating. Move the stick off center & it was fine but back to center & it was vibrating. I put the 2nd spare on & it did the same thing. The Walkera still on the heli did not do this.

Any ideas? I'm not going to swap them out until I can figure out what's going on.

It could be a bad spot on your Tx pot (potentiometer). You can try cleaning it out with compressed air, alcohol, or tuner cleaner. You'll have to open the Tx to get to the pot.

If you hold the stick still, somewhere other then the center, does it jitter? If you move the stick around and hold it, does the servo jitter? If not, then like jtspin says, it could be a bad spot on the pot (and the old servo may have a wider "deadband" in the center).
