I have used 11.1 volts on both stock 4&1's and modd'd 4&1's for over a year. Both have worked just fine, without burning up. the risk with 11.1 volts is that if you forget to throttle down quickly enough during a crash, you will quickly burn the 4&1. It is a risk since the 4&1's are quite pricey, but to me the extra power and flight times is well worth it.

    Mcflyman.

I got it from SimonD, the guy who makes the metal rotor heads. Ive seem him grace us with his presence on this site so no doubt he will appear again soon. (Hi Simon) He made this rotor holder as a prototype for himself because like me, he was cheesed of with snapping them all the time. I once went through 3 in one week. I offered to buy this on from him and he sold it to me. Im afraid its a one off and you cant buy them anywhere. He has said that he will consider making them to sell on e-bay but i dont know when that will be. I got really lucky i guess!

Thanks man if he was to sell them he would make a lot. I heard of that guy before with the metal rotor head tried getting in touch with him befoe no luck. I see you mod your df4 alot like me have you checked out this fram. I am using it with my df4 and it is great http://www.heli-fever.com/index.php?cPath=6&osCsid=9i2dsvdnum29ua0t4ifseje323

I actually ordered one of them yesterday. It should be here in the next week. I cant wait. A rigid frame makes for a much better flying heli so i cant wait to try it out!! Looks mean too! God, when you just think you've finished something else crops up that you need to buy!!!!??? LOL. Well worth it though. This hobby is great. So rewarding after you have stopped crashing!

The flight times is something I forgot to mention. I have tons of power even with the weight of a 1300mAh LiPo, and I'm getting 25 - 26 minutes hovering in the office. Yesterday I was buzzing around outdoors and it was still going strong when the Tx had 28 minutes on the clock. Flight ended when I hit the trees (quite windy).

The 4-in-1 in the DF-4 WILL burn up at 11.2 v.
    Ask how I know.

Do you know which part burned up? How old is your 4in1?

    .
I have both the Walkera DF 4 and the same thing sold at Hobby People as the Sabre, and a DF 4 #1.
All have had the ESC part of the 4-in-1 fail using the 3C800 Lipo for the Blade CP.
    The receiver part works.
I use the 4-in1- for the Blade now in the DFs.

Sounds like the typical problem of blowing the MOSFET. Is it just the main motor, or both the main and tail (It's usually just the main). That can be fixed (fairly easy fix), if you want... and the replacement MOSFET has twice the current capacity (20A)

    DK,

Where whould I be able to get a new MOSFET from?
I have blown the main rotor one.
Would Radio Shack (Tandy) or or a decent electronics shop have them?

    Bill

    PS to ALL,

    I run a 1000mAh 11.1 lipo in my original version #4 without a problem.

dear all, my main motor for the #4 has worn out and the motors were out of stock. so i replaced it with the main motor of the 22e. i immediately noticed that although it has written on it 370sd same as the original stock motor of the #4 it seems to have different windings and wire guage in it. the power is much more than the original one. the problem is that it heats up very quickly. im using a 7.4V lipo 1300mah and it can give approximately 18 of flight time with great power. i normally fly for only 5 mins as the motors get very hot. has anybody used this motor before and does it damage the ESC? is it true that it produces more power? thanks to all

Radio Shack tends to not have much in the way of surface mount. A decent electronic shop *may* have them. I got them from Digikey (but they have a minimum order). I believe Mouser and Newark also carry them.

    The original chip is a FDS4410 N-channel (10A, 30V Rds=13.5 mOhm). My current recommended replacement is a FDS8812NZ N-channel (20A, 30V Rds=4mOhm), twice the current capacity.

If you want big and beefy, there's the HRF3205 N-channel (TO-220 package. 55V, 100A [yes 100!] Rds=8mOhm), but you'll have to modify your 4in1 case to fit it.

Are you good a soldering surface mount? It's an SO-8 package (which I'm sure you've seen when you opened up the 4in1 case). If so, then I can just send you the chip, or you can send me your 4in1 and I can take care of it. I see you're in Australia, so it will take a little longer...

    .
I don't have the eyesight required for delicate electronic work any more, and I would consider fixing Walkera electronics as trying to make a better sow's ear out of a poor sow's ear anyway.
The eFlite 4-in-1s are made for the job, so I use those.
