    Hi there guys,

I'm new but have noticed a problem you guys have been talking about.

My Dragonfly 4 is suffering servo jitters when it is stationary. When I try and fly it, it goes all over the place and is very hard to fly. I have fully charged batteries, but it still seems to have a mind of its own.

What is the remedy for it?

YOu mention fully charged batteries, but are you also sure the TX batteries are in good shape?
Also, please ensure that the TX antenna is fully extended and that the RX antenna is routed out and away from the heli.

Receiver antenna placement made a big difference for me in getting rid of servo glitching. It seems odd that the helicopter doesn't come with a standard antenna mount, but here's a photo of how I have mine set up. As you can see, I like waxed dental floss!

    Thankyou UshobbySupply and AtomicFlyer!

Just a couple of questions for you AtomicFlyer - what sort of battery are you running? And If I have a different type of transmitter (I have a brand new Sanwa 4 channel - never bveen used) can I use that instead of the Tx that comes with the heli?

    Hi,
I run superskids with my #4, that allows me to use lipos (both 7.4 and 11.1). 1000 to 1300mah are great.

No, you cannot use any other brand of TX with the stock #4. In order to use a different radio, you must swap out the 4*1 for separates.

UshobbySupply - sorry, I don't quite get what you meant by swapping out the 4*1 for separates

The Walkera TX will only work with the RX from walkera. No other tx's will work. its a bummer, that it is what it is.

You could (I have and so have many others), swap out the entire radio system.

In that case, you would need a rx that goes with the new tx you have, and a 3*1 or a 2*1 and a seperate gyro. This can provide very good results, but usually costs near what the whole heli costs. You would also be scrapping the original tx and rx (but those could be sold off).

Here is an example of a 3&1
    http://www.ushobbysupply.com/product_info.php?products_id=603
(sold out at moment, but can have in a couple of days)

    or a 2&1 like
    http://www.ushobbysupply.com/product_info.php?products_id=91
with this one, you at least a simple rate gyro.

Sounds like a lot of work, but its not too bad. Lots of folks here (and me) will help, if you decide to go that route. Really for the new pilot, its better to spend that money on spares while learning to fly.

    sorry for the ambiguity earlier,
    Michael

    Smokey,
I'm using Tower Pro SG90 servos. You can Google them or search for them on eBay. My stock servos went out pretty early in my flight training and the SG90 servos have worked well since then.

I'm using 7.4 volt (2 series) 1300 mAh LiPo batteries. LiPo's have very well documented safety issues if not handled or charged correctly (cars burning up, houses burning down) so you would be wise to research them fully before going that route. With that said, you get higher power density than with NiMH technology meaning longer flight times for the same weight.

Thankyou Michael - I think wisdom is the better part of valour, so I will stick to the standard Tx. I will try the aerial tube and see how I go.

I like the little heli - actually I have a Esky belt CP (carbon edition) in the wings, waiting until I have mastered the smaller bird. I can keep the Walkera airbourne even when it darts around the place by its own accord! I have heard that the larger Esky is a bit easier to fly, as it is more stable. The thing is, I don't want to risk the more expensive Belt CP before I have become proficient. So it is frustrating when the Walkera does what it pleases, making it hard to learn.

If you're a novice like me, the term "4-in-1" might be a little confusing. Not too long ago, when you'd buy an R/C helicopter, you also had to buy a radio receiver, a gyroscope to keep the tail from wandering around, an electronic speed control to vary the speed of the motor, and a mixer. These four functions have now been combined into one piece of electronics. For increased performance, some guys replace the 4-in-1 with seperate components (being of middle age, I remember when that was all the rage wit
