I tried to use the method in Rays's Heli Manual
to figure out the collective limits on my Raptor 30 but it didn't work for me. I never felt the pushrod move and I ended up calculating about 40 degrees of usable pitch, which I'm sure isn't right. Does anyone have any suggestions to figure out how much usable pitch there is? Or can you just tell me how much there usually is on this bird?

Thanks

That's all good but I want to know the actual LIMIT for the usable pitch without getting binding. You aren't telling me that for sure...

I you use the full travel of the pitch arm in of the in the window of the frame you should be able to get about 22 deg total pitch travel. That should work without binding if you keep the cyclic pitch on the main blades to 6 or 7 deg.

You should be able to set the pitch arm at the bottom of the window and read the pitch on the main blades with the swash plate level then raise the pitch arm to the top of the window and check again. I have mine set to about -10 deg to +11 deg. You can vary this range by changing the length of the long links going to the head from the swashplate.

Okay, thanks.

I don't know what happened the first time but I measured again and I have +13 and -11.5 That is still more than usual from what I've read...but I guess more is better than less.
