Hi chris1949;

Greetings to you from Thong Beach, Florida.

I have a mint kit of the Sig Ryan STA, and will be happy to copy the Building INs. ManuaL for you; please email to me your mailing address.

Also, this design by Maxey Hester was featured in MAN, [Can't remember when...maybe someone else could help here], including a beautiful colour cover photo I believe. I have this article saved in my archives, [unfortunately in Arizona]. I will be getting back to AZ in mid September, and could send you a copy of this artice too, if you want.

There, another problem solved with the help of good'ole RCU and its Legion of Readers' in da'net. I will close for now, sprinkle in some eye drops, and go for yet a'nudder delightful walk down Manasota Key's 13 mile long 'Stroll of Thongs'....ah yes! Let us All have a great and safe long holiday weeked, best regards from Florida,

Joe Nagy. email: joshrl@hotmail.com

Joe,
Maxy Hesters was in the September 1971 MAN.
MAN has published at least 3 scale Ryan St series plans.

How about the Sig Jr. Aces planes?

I can't say I have seen one in a long time.

I would like most to get the Mustang and the cosmic Wind. I might as well include the Hawker Hurricane while I am at it.

I picked up a partial set of parts including most of the molded stuff (no canopy) and one sheet of plans (wing drawing) for a Zlin Akrobat. I'll let them go cheap if anyone is interested. Contact me by PM for the nitty gritty details.

The 60 size Komet is a good one, also the 40 size Kiwi.
I'm just finishing up on a 30 year old Komet kit.
Very nice flying plane

Unfortunately.....I doubt you will see any kits brought back, or any new ones for that matter. The kit business as we have known it for all these years will slowly start to die out. The guys that have the ability and desire to build them are aging....and it seems like most people would rather fly than build. Thus, we have the ARF market.

on googling for discontinued SIG kits, i found this thread. Jeff's statement caught me. i guess we all sort of figure kits will die. but it seems they are holding their own. some new kits have been released is why i reason that way:

rascal
this electric is especially notable in my opinion

kavalier is still around

we just need to keep buying kits and avoid arfs when we can convince ourselves it isn't worth it! believe me, i know, that takes some convincing when you look at costs sometimes..

i wrote an email to the guy who designed the Rascal 110 asking him to release a kit. his reply was that it would cost more to build it yourself. i told him i didn't care, i wanted to build. he said he couldn't help me. i guess i need to write somebody else in the company and request that. there must be some sorta economic incentive for them not to release kits of planes they ARF...i just don't know what it is. perhaps they can't mark a kit up as much as an ARF. i can't imagine how much money they make on just one ARF.

My all time favorite Sig kit was the Kougar... built three of them and flew mine with a O.S. 45FSR. What FUN!! Also built the KIWI and that plane was a real nice flyer. Would really like to build the Ryan STA. Had a kit of it in the '80's and gave it to a friend...all I asked for was a picture of it when he had it built. He did a SUPER job building it...........never got the picture though. Might have to look up that MAN article and get some plans 'cause I love to cut parts and build 'em the old fashion way!
