Do I need to worry about it? Some people have had their pictures erased, some have not.

What do you think?

The X-ray machines shouldn't be a problem for these cards but I would make sure you don't have any of them in a pocket while you go through the metal detector.

If you have something really important, and there is a risk of loosing pictures from your card, I would just go back to using one of the old lead film bags that were made to protect roll film from Xray machines.
I guess I haven't heard that this would be a problem.

Out of pure curiosity- why would you not want them in your pocket going through a metal detector? 100% of the time, you are required to empty your pockets before going through

Are you referring to accidently going through and having the detection "erase"?

I travel a lot by plane and always carry my digital camera and the cards. Never had a problem.
If you are concerned, TSA rules allow you to ask for a physical inspection by a TSA agent and avoid the X-ray machine.

JohnVH: I checkerd with security here at the local International Airport. Their advice was to simply show the chips to the security officer and ask them " please, do not xray this item". Most will comply
