MOnkey bone,
there are manyways, for 1/16 scale, I liek this way best,
go to you local hobby store, find the thin styren semi-circle or quater-circle rod depending on type of joint. glue it on, then brush cement on until it is soft. then use hobby knif and stab on it to simulate weld seam. then brush the cenment on again to soften it up. otherwise it is too harsh.
good luck.

I saw a 1/6 scale M5 last week and the gentleman used milliput to make the "weld seams"...looked VERY convincing!! try milliput...said it works easy and it is easy to learn on a piece of cardboard..I don;t know exactly how he did it but I will tell him to post it here...

Sorry for the delay in reply. Busy week! In reply to your question on 1/6 welds, I use Miliput, a 2 part clay like putty available at most hobby stores. Once the two parts are mixed, I roll it out into a "string" about the size of pencil lead and press it onto the area where the weld would be. To texture the putty, I use the back of an ink pen, angled at about 45 degrees to the line and work along the putty pushing it slightly into small ridges that look like weld marks. It helps if you roll the back of the pen slightly as you move along the line of putty. Miliput dries fairly slow, so you can remove it if it doesnt look right to you. Be patient and practice with it and you can get some good effects. The stuff may stick to you "tool" as it starts to dry, so just press it back down with your fingers if it does. Good luck and happy tankin! Feel free to eMail me if I can help.

- Andy
