I am building a mess around mini rock crawler from scratch out of plastic sheet and t maxx springs! so far i have built the hole chassis and installed the turning servo but i have reached a problem, my speed control will not work so i need a way of connecting 4 motors to a reciever, since you connect servos straight to the reciever i thought it could be done, anyone got any ideas? thanks

no you will have to run two evx's, then run a y-harness to connect them to the reciever

whats a evx? and whats a y-harness lol got any links? also is there a battery pack just a bit lighter than a full 7.2v stick because i was planning on using 2x four AA battery packs but for some reason if you connect 4 AAs to the reciever and a ESC to a recieaver the batterys start smoking??? o yeh i found a new speed control but would still rather connect straight to the reciever.

2x Traxxas EVX - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAJD6&P=ML
1x Hitec Y-Harness - http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXWB69&P=7

- thats all you need to run 4 engines(minus batteries,etc...)

jadster, you cant connect the motors directly to the reciever, but you can run the motors off of a servo controller board. however, with what i'm assuming you experience level is, i wouldn't suggest that, its pretty involved. if you're really careful about how you wire the motors, i would reccomend a spy esc from novak http://www.teamnovak.com/products/ESC_Specs/revers_spec/reverse_index.htm. to wire this controller to your motors, and not smoke it, you would have to wire the motors in series, that is : from speed control pos to motor1 pos, motor1 neg to motor2 pos, motor2 neg to motor3 pos, motor3 neg to motor4 pos, and motor4 neg to speed control neg, although you'll have to swap neg and pos in there somewhere. basically its a huge pain.
btw, you do have a gearbox on each motor right? if you dont have some sort of gear reduction i highly doubt that you'll have much luck with the truck.

ok... my idea was... just to link all the motors together and solder 8 wires into 2 and then solder some connecters on the end then connect that to a no limit speed controller then just connect a 7.2v stick to that and then connect that to the receiver oh yeh and a servo to the receiver too, and no the wheels are glued straight onto the motor pinions, do u think it'll work?

Youre saying the wheels are glued directly to the motor? No gear reduction? If so, your going to have a pretty hard tire crawling without any gear reduction.

About using both Reciever batteries and esc

Can you somehow use both - or by using 2 ESC do you Double the voltage goin to the Servo's as i am currently running thinkin about running 4 wheel steering which will require 2 serov's obviously not using the link provided just added itself

you can use both an esc and reciever batteries, but you have to disconnect the power wire coming from the esc to the reciever, (you can find instructions all over) also with dual esc's you need to disconnect the power wire from one of them. dont worry about the power supply for the servos on that small of a vehicle.
i think i would look into some gearing for those motors, otherwise it just wont work very well.
