It's no problem, we just fly with the transmitter upside down and everything's fine

One thing that is different here is that the sun goes around the other way! Coming here from the UK by way of a few years in Canada this was something that was at first strange.

Bayou, if you ever get down here you will be most welcome. Plenty of clubs all down the east coast (other places too), you could fly all morning and surf in the afternoon!

Chad,
I don't want to turn this into a discussion of the benefits of the AMA, but you really need to consider getting it. The insurance is a really good thing to have. You definately don't want to wind up financially liable if something happens if you damage somebody's property or hit somebody. $58/year is very cheap insurance.

Good call RCKen! I know I wouldn't be caught flying without it. That is the cheapest insurance that you will find anywhere. Add to that the value of the Model Aviation Magazine and you can't go wrong. The value of sharing the comraderie and knowledge of the other flyers at the club field is great too! I can't think of a reason not to join AMA. This not an inexpensive sport to be sure, but there are lots of other places to save money.

Pilot Chad,

I would love to fly with you, however most pilots would not want to fly with someone without insurance. It really isn't worth the risk. If you change your mind, let me know. I fly with 2 clubs. My heli club is the Huntsville Heli Flyers and my airplane club is Jackson County R/C which is at Woodville, AL.

I am just curious, why do you not want to join AMA?

If you don't get it soon, give them a call and check on it. Sometimes it gets "lost" and they need to "find" it.
