mine tuned up easy & has plenty of bottom end, i run a 15t on my XB8 with it

its a bit lacking on topend but it'll do

421B is my current favourite engine at the mo

mines done just over a Gallon (UK Gall of 4.55 litres)!

So would the lowend compare to say a P5? and the topend close to a 421b?
I think that would be a badass engine if you could get a cross breed of them 2 engines.

even on a 15 it has Killer bottom end! mega punchy down low
i race it & get just under 8 minutes on the 8mm venturi (& i'm WOT everywhere )
i personally think its a bit slow top end but then i'm used to 421B in the 777 & MBX5

Mine has been to repair twice and has less then a half gallon on it.

Get a P5, performance is about the same but novarossi has a much better history or performance and reliability.

Try the new Novarossi P7, they are hard to find but they are making them.

But I would avoid the US version of the Picco P7-R, the 2-piece crank has a serious problem of falling apart.

You just can't go wrong with a Nova/RB motor.

apparently they will replace your crank if you have a problem with it
its a bit cr@p really as they delayed release of the engine into the US while they made the new cranks & it turns out they're no good anyway
luckily mine was a European one made even before they started messing around with cranks
Apparently the MEGA line of engines supplied by Serpent have had the same problem & are all having the cranks replaced too

I've gotten through over 10 gallons on the first one and the second has hit 5. Both have shown no lack in performance, The older one has still not had to be touched since I frst installed it, personally I like the torque it has best, there is definately more in it that they claim. So much so that it is standard practice amongst team drivers to use a 15T CB, to tame the low end. The new cranks are reported to have a problem, but I've only heard a few people whining about it. Break in takes 15 minutes and is extremely simple. Best engines I've ever bought. Better than V-Specs IMO.

got a quote from the guy who "was" supplying P7-R in the US, taken from "the grid"!
quote:

181 of 203 by Ron Hopkins (alrousa) on Wed Apr 6 23:15:35 2005:

Rich, as you probably know in conjunction with Alberto, Degani,
Wheeler and Korts we did a lot of the development on the P7R engines.
Without going into a lot of detail there were some things that
occured during/after development that made me decide to pass on the
P7R buggy engine and go in a different direction. As it stands we are
now importing/selling select Picco engines all of which we stock parts
for. As indicated the P7R is not one of those. For all customers of a
Werks Picco engine, we currently have and will continue to stock parts
for all engines that we have imported or currently import. For older
designs i.e. from Paris or Trinity try giving OFNA a call for parts.

it seems he no longer wants any part of the P7-R

I have just over a gallon on mine...it just gets better with every tank.
No issues so far, I've not had it apart yet to check the crank.
I have to agree with Alex...very easy to break in, and it practically tunes itself, tons of torque and power delivery screams from idle thru midrange.
I'm running a 13t bell currently, but I'm dying to try a 15t when the big track opens in a couple weeks.
Getting an average 8 min/tank with the 8mm venturi, I installed the 7mm to tame it down for the small indoor track I will be racing this weekend
