Glad I found this info about the KG in Hitec. Always had great servos and no trouble with Hitec , TILL NOW!, Lost 2 servos and part of plane. servos stripped in flight. Been having trouble with 1/4 Super Cub thought it was conections, It turned out to be the 635's. They are no longer in Cub. went to JR DS537 servos and they work Great. Instructions said I could use standard servos in the Cub.

Fly right (right up that is)

With all this news being said, what do you folks know about the Karbonite arms that come shipped with the HS-645 MG servos? Has any one heard any horror stories with these arms snapping under loads? Post away......

I have not had any fail. The gears were the problem. I use nothing but metal geared servos where applicable.

Has any one checked out the new servos from JR( DS821) ?. Just got four of them to try, and the price is right at 29.95. Hope to be flying them in about a week.

Flying upside down is fun and works great, but hard on props when landing

Bought 4 of the DS821 JR servos. I have had 5 flights on my Sukhoi 31 ( 60 size with OS 90 4S) with them and they are great. Flights lasted 15 min. each. no slop at all! I'm a new fan of JR servos. Gentle on the wallet too at 29.95. I pulled all of my Hitec 635's, gears are not holding up. Anyway thanks for the heads up from all of you.

Same here. I dont have a lot of time on my JR DS821's but the price is right and so is the torque. They will be phased in during maintenance on the older planes. The new planes are getting these and also trying the 125oz JR sport line. I'm also trying out the futaba 3010, but they're still in the box.

I just bought some new Hitec servos to go in my current model and I have absolutly no worries. Never had a Hitec fail and I have been using them since they called RCD.
Hitec servos are great.

Terry,
If you read this thread its mostly about the Karbonite geared servos...Yes I have had good luck with Hitec. The problem here is they have put a defective product on the market. Falsely advertised from the out set and then after have failures they just change the ratings of the servo through customer service when called. They will still say the 635 is a replacement for the 605. but they now add. "Do not use on plane over 12 lbs" and "Don't use on a plane with a gas engine" I flew 605's on up to 40 lbs planes in the past without any problems. Alot of us were screwed by buying the 635's for new planes and then finding out we could not use them. We were left without any remendy but to post it here. Hitec has no plans to make new/different gears for them. They will not replace what you have. You still see advertisements in MAN and elsewhere about these being direct replacement for the 605's

So please buy the 635's and give them your AAA rating

AMAN to what Brown said. I still fly Hitec 425's and they are a great servo. The 635's I would love to send them back and get my money back, But. and I will not sell them to any one, so Hitec has lost another cust. and I have servos to set on shelf and look at. I was one of the lucky ones and found out about the 635's before l lost a plane.

When I bought 8 (635's) for giant scale warbird, they advertised (at least by the lhs owner) that they were a direct replacement for the 605. Then later on they changed the spec to not over 12lbs. That tells me they know something. After seeing what happened to others trying to get refunds, I decided not to try. Will sell them at a swapmeet. Up until this point I never had a grip with hitec. My complaint is with their policy. No problem, I can take my business else where.

It sure is a good thing people did'nt quit buying Fords when they had "Pinto" problems, or GMs when the fuel tanks on the pickups exploded, or K-cars from Chrysler.

The difference is the mfg fixed those problems or pulled the product from distribution. Hitec says its not problem.
