Unfortunaltely, I'm having difficulty putting the batts. where I want them due to the tailwheel servo. They are going right against F-8 which is as far back as i can go without cutting holes. I cut a battery stick pack and made it round to fit it in. I'm afraid my options are very limited at this point. In hind sight, I should have done some balancing prior to covering. I'd mount a battery in the tail, then.

For the record, I'm still interested.... Keep it coming...

I had a similar CG issue with my H9 SPitfire.. Part of it was that I had not measured to the CG point accurately... I had to move my rx battery pack back (as you did) and added a 2nd battery pack for the retracts. That seems to have cured it but I won't be able to test fly it till Monday... bummer.

I'm still lurking, FYI... This is one of my future projects, just getting tips for now. I'm also hoping that this thread stays alive.

Finally! I've been reading for day's!!!!! I think it took me longer to read this thread than it would have taken me to build one! But at least now I know how to build one!

Now I also know where you've been hanging out Bob!! Is your's still on the shelf?

There is a ton of great stuff in here. What's the wingspan on this one? I built the old Top Flite P-51 and bought the conversion kit to make it a "D" model. I still have the box! I built it in the early/mid 80's when I was an early teen.

It's covered and painted but I ran into hic-cups trying to get an exhaust on the Supre Tigre for it. I think it must be smaller than this one you guys are building. I'm starting to get back into R/C now and I'm finishing up an Ugly Stick that I scratched to get me started again. I thought about finishing the Mustang up next then venturing into some Giant Scale. You gotta love the Mustang!!

Sean

The current Gold Edition P51 has a wingspan of 65", length of 56.5, wing area 734, weight 8 to 10. I started mine about 3 years ago and so far have the wing built with the retracts installed, but still have to sheet the wing. Have the tail feathers built. Got into larger planes (28% gas) shortly after starting this project, so this has sort of stalled.

Yes... there is a lot of info in this and takes a lot of reading. You need to book mark the parts that have some good pictures etc.
