its tons of fun and mucho simple. dont get me wrong i still like my nitro trucks .its just that when u get tired of working on them its fun to just crank this beast up and bash the crap out of it.
off road u cant really tell it has spools when youre turning and it makes it hook up great. if u noticed i took some pretty high speed turns and it didnt roll over. i got it set up really low.

im open for body ideas a 1/8 will fit

Get to it!!

Yeah i know it. Its just that i havent had a paycheck since Thanksgiving because of winter and the rain around here, and i do excavating. Plus I am in college, so I cant work a full time Job anyways. Im supposed to be getting on with Caterpillar real soon though, and if that pulls though for me, I wont have a problem buying what i need to fix this sucker right. Im just trying not to spend money on stuff i dont need right now since fuel has gotten so high. But It'll come around soon enough, and ill have this sucker running this summer hopefully.

Quick update. I got the front diff hooked up to the transmission, so I now have 4wd. Yet to be tested, im slowly putting it back together in between changing nappies and work. I hope to have it back together for the weekend.

For those that are interested I used 2 front sprockets and chain from a Thunder Tiger 1:5 motorcycle (I used to race them so had the parts laying around, but they are very cheap to buy as spare parts). The only other mods are to create the hole in the chassis for the chain to go through and extend the input shaft of the diff to line the sprockets up (this part im not sure is going to hold up, i think my engineering may fail here but testing will tell).

Looks good man! Let us know how it works out. Im thinking i may just use the T-Maxx transmission instead of building my own like i had planned. I think i can fit it on my new frame ok, so im gonna try it out soon. The biggest thing holding me back is that since my clutch isnt bolted to the motor it is hard to line them up good.

I like the chain idea for the 4wd though. Let us know how it works out. I think I am going to have enough room to make mine 4wd with the stock driveshaft setup. I guess ill find out

I got a chance to give my truck a quick test after work today in my small back yard. Ran it for about 10 mins trying full throttle take offs and hard brakes and the chain setup has held up so far. Its amazing how much more stopping power you have with front brakes! It hasn't hit second gear yet so I'll head down to the park tomorrow and run a tank through it and see how it goes.

Well, I managed to cook my savage transmission. The extended front diff input shaft I made bent slightly, causing the chain to become slack and get caught. This caused the bottom half of the transmission to stop spinning while the top half was at full revs. SNAP..... . I guess I was lucky, the only parts I had to replace was a shaft and a plastic gear. I now have to find someone with a lathe so I can make a part that won't bend/fail again. I have been using hand tools and a drill press up until now
