I own the FMA FS8 model reciever. This radio is impressive and lives up to its claims. I've been using this in my 1/4 scale Sopwith Pup for over a year now, and I just bought a another one to use in my 1/4 scale Nieuport 17.

The "Digital Signature Recognition" technology really does work to block on-channel interference. I have two Futaba transmitters on Ch 52, a 9C and a 6DA. I did a little test in my garage, where I turned on my 9C, then my FMA FS8 reciever, and then later turned on my 6DA. The FS8 ignored the input from the 2nd transmitter because it had already locked onto the signature of the 9C's signal. Simply amazing.

I could wiggle the sticks of the 6DA and the servos didn't budge, the reciever ignored it proving that Digital Signature Recognition really works. I could cause some interference to happen (as evidence by servos jittering a little) by getting the two antennaes real close to each other but even after that, the reciever came right back to the 9C. This is indeed an impressive technology. I would imagine that Digital Signature Recognition is even more powerful for transmitters of different brands.

The FS8 also has a built-in voltmeter, built-in failsafe (even though it's not PCM, it's FM), and it records diagnostics like the number of times it entered failsafe or had to reconstruct bad signal frames. It also has a built-in mini-scanner that checks to see if its channel is clear of interference before you turn on your transmitter. Another notable is that this reciever is made in the USA.

While no technology is perfect, this is at least a partial countermeasure to the risk of folks not using frequency control outside (but nearby) our field.

FMA published a white paper on this technology and it is available at their website.
