Status: offline 		My choice will be Koverall, it is just going to take a time but I am not in a hurry.
I have been doing some "scale" mods, not a great deal but I like it more this way.
Now I will build the guns and cockpit, after that I will cover the model and wings and paint it.
There are some parts left to be build like the wing struts and a lot of sanding I will post every advance in my build.

Status: offline 		Didn't realize there was action on this thread (I was Mode One and changed my handle and email address, so I'm not being notified of posts here on this thread). It looks like both of you are having fun building your SE5as. I still haven't flown mine. It seems I have time for the hobby in the winter but not during the flying season. I'm looking for a nice weather window coinciding with being able to take the time to test fly it! Minnesota weather is just not cooperating; but, this is my next project.

Status: offline 		I am building a dynaflite SE5A also.I am concerned though that the stock muffler on my os 120 will be a horrible fit ..theres no room to angle it down so it will exhaust on the bottom.the walls are too narrow to allow the bend in the exhaust stack to stay within the cowl. has anyone modified the exhaust to maintain the scale look. does OS have different mufflers ..I would like some advice so I can install and get this plane done,I want to take it across the river to the rhinebeck aerodome and fly it this year.yes I am maybe 15 minutes from it.

Status: offline 		Have a look back through this forum. Page 8 for instance. Lots of detail about motor mounting, IE upright or inverted. Upright give a more scale position for the prop. You can use a flexy pipe ( Macs Mufflers) to run the exhaust out the bottom. Or go the whole hog and run the Exhaust through scale pipes. This will unfortunatley coat the rear of the plane liberaly with oil but boy it looks good sitting idling will puffs of exhaust comming out the pipes. Tower also have a 90 degree header pipe wich may solve your problem.

Status: offline 		wish I had a satio 120 as they make a right angle adapter as does YS.I can probably cut the side out to allow the muffler to stick out the side but damn it thats ugly.

Status: offline 		This is the best that I could do it, I am using a Magnum 1.20 four stroke which is the same size as the OS 1.20 Four Stroke, the manifold adapter that I used is the one that Tower sells for the OS 1.20 FS engine

Status: offline 		since my last post I have completely recovered the entire plane.I used some olive drab momokote laying around and cream for the bottom.one of the club members who is a static judge at top gun put me on to min wax polycrylic clear satin ..I hated the fake look with monokote but by spraying this on the plane it made it look like a fabric job.simply awesome.I did find a muffler manidifold adapter and was able to mount the exhaust out the bottom. the plane is looking great!!I started this project as a do over as the plane was crashed sadly the previous owner passed away and I figured I could restore the plane to a flying condition without much expense and that has turned out to be true.but the end result is so nice.

I re applied decals and want to add a little more detail than the dynaflite kit had in the kit.I need some cockpit combing form somewhere ..I want to enhance the landing gear with staine wood as I see in here.also get a vickers gun and a pilot. the front cowling was broken when I inherited the plane and think I can fix it without investing in another.he had a 91 for power I am using a broken in os 120 surpass and it should be ample power (I hope).I havent weighed it but when I do I suspect its well within the suggested weight called for on the kit.I am hoping all this effort pays off as I live 15 minutes from the rhinbeck aerodrome and want to fly it there .

Status: offline 		I bought a plane at the show down in Perry, Georgia this February. It looks a lot like a Dynaflight SE5a. The nose is different though. Here is a video of my first flight three days ago.

I put a new OS 91 in it, with a 14x8 prop that I had around. It only has four servos total. It took off in about five feet and flew scale at idle.

Status: offline 		thanks for sharing.The video has inspired me to finish my plane this weekend.I am installing the radio system as I write.I used monokote olive drab and used a trick I learned to give the monokote a mat type finish.sprayed minwax polyureathane satin clear. man it looks great.I followed the build according to dynaflite's instructions so my engine is inverted.I installed a mc daniels remote igntion driver.hopefully no problems.I am wondering about the sturdiness of the structs at the connecting points. did you do anything to reinforce them? lastly , what servos did you go with and got any idea what the fished plane weighed??

mine is with a 129 I had laying around and the weight minus the muffler and servos was just about 9.5 lbs.well within the 12 -13 range as shown on the kit box.

I see the elevator was a weeeee bit touchy lol..good flight! I'll try and get a pic or 2 here within the week..

The servo on the ailerons is a Futaba 3010. The others are standard Futaba. I'm not sure what the weight is. What do you use to weight your planes.

Will you have your plane ready for the Rhinebeck show, in September?
