Hello everyone. New to cars but have seen them in the last 17 years of my RC experience. I'm into helis and an X-planker. Just bought my son one of those trucks for Christmas and considering getting one for myself next week. Quality time with each other. My question is what is your experience with Traxxas and if you have one what would you consider to be good performance upgrades? The upgrades would be for me cuz he will never beat his oleman and he can get them when his grades go up. LOL. Bent on getting the MS Hornet and if I get the car too, the upgrades will have to wait but it would be nice to know. For example he has already broke an A-Arm and my LHS says their are some aluminum A-Arms available. Would this be a worthy upgrade cosidering cost? Will the stress or damage be placed on more expensive parts on the chassis?

Ive had one for over a year and really beat the tar out of it, Yesterday I was jumping motorcycle doubles with it! I put a novarossi .12 in it and some skidplates and its other wise stock. This is my favorite truck, and Ive had a few including 1/8 scale, I have never broke a A-arm, Personally I wouldnt put aluminum ones on my truck because you want something to break, the arms may be cheaper and easier to change out than differential cases. But thats my opinion, I have seen a few with them on it. I have yet to break one on mine and have had some very nasty wide open in second gear crashes!!

Have fun with it!!

Check your local race tracks, ours has a Tmaxx race.

Thanks John for the reply. You're right probably right about the A-arms. A person can get caught up with, the appeal of upgrades. They are sitting in front of you all shimmery and gleaming. LOL. Their are 6 others that race them at our field and it sounds like fun. Don't have any experience with them but what the heck. At least I won't total it out when I crash. And I can appreciate that!

Hello I have had 3 Tmaxxes in my time I really like truck I have tryed every upgrade to man ,First thing I would buy would be the alum skids and the tranny braces ,Then I would take the reverse out of the truck so in gear it takes off with out jumping and jerking ,It also improves the speed a little ,There are tons of upgrades out there so dont get caught in the pretty game most of the upgrades dont inhance performance just looks so get one and bash it you will like it and I thing the truck likes it too

take out reverse? I actually use it once in a while, and it only jerks if you ease the throttle just above an idle. My opinion would be to keep reverse if you occasionaly use it and just go from idle to 1/4 throttle.

Thanks

ive had my maxx for one year now and i have to say that the best upgrdes to get are full skids,fr,center, and rear

mip cvds(after a while when your stock universals wear out)

maybe prolines tires , i cant remember what their called

better .15 or .21 upgrade

for .21 you'll need ext chassis, ext r skid, smaller spur, stuff for .21 engine, or u can get rpms kit , look on their site to find it

if u go .21 id definately get cvd s, maybe rpm hardened steel diff, reverse gear lockout(lessens hock on tranny in full throttle accelerations)

ooooo!!! definately get steel spur!!!

maybe add a second disc in your brakes go to the following site for instructions

http://www.maxxtraxx.com/tech/tech004.shtml

hopefully this helps

Tomatoot, Thanks for the reply. Talk about a crash course in RC Cars! I just bought a T Maxx for myself. Picked up some A-Arms and body posts for my son also, just to find out he also has a broken rear toe control link. Now that one I can't figure out. This is all since Christmas. Oh well, one more trip to my LHS. It appears to be very well built and I attribute the plastic failure to the cold, 25 degrees. I did pick up the MIP pipe while I was there today also. While I was there I was told about all the upgrades available and GEEZ, I thought helis were expensive! Thanks for the links. Gonna get it going Sat. morning and maybe by Sun I'll whooping up on the youngster. LOL

Ran the car today and what a blast. I didn't relize it was this much fun. My son did break another toe-in link which is surprising but this is so mucch fun. I can see that the Titanium links are coming. If someone
has an opinion let me know, thanks.
