Try purchasing a RTR car from another company, you will see more issues regarding getting started as a beginner. In my opinnion Traxxas does a very good job in making your first nitro experience as easy as they can. Traxxas uses a ez start system that only requires a 7.2 battery that powers both the glow plug and the on board starter all in one simple button. The car does not need any locktite before you run it due to smart use of plastic and metal where needed. The instructions are clearly written and go into detail about how a nitro motor works. It comes with a dvd to help you, plus a quick reference card right on the tank on how to break it in and set needles. The nitro hobby is something that will require alot of work and some patience. Other company's make rdy to run's that require alot more to get you going and they dont give you the level of customer service that traxxas has. As for parts to start with, Red B. has some good advise. Put bearings in the steering bell crank, get some off road tires and wheels for the rear, get a rpm front bumper, upgrade your chassis to the optional traxxas alum. one (stops most of the problems with top plates breaking), either get rid of the rool hoop or brace it or use stand offs so it wont break off on the right side when landing on the lid, brace the front camber links together so they wont pull out, use fuel tubing on the brake linkage instead of a spring, if you want you can get some rpm arms or wait till yours break. Do not get a alum shock tower it will break your tranny case. The 3.3 loves to eat tranny gears, so make sure your slipper is set a bit on the loose side if your eating trannys up. For speed, drill the stinger, upgrade the airfilter, revo gear it 20cb 40 spur, and for more money upgrade the carb and pipe or just have your motor moded.
