to the person asking about the speed T, the speed T runs a ball diff, while the jato runs a geared differential, the geared diff relies on the diff oils to give the restriction at speed, it wont feel like much when its standing still.

While the ball diff is a central gear, with small balls within it, they are then sandwiched with a plate either side and tightened with a central nut, the more u tighten it the less diff action u get.

Dont worry your diff is fine

speaking of diffs, i think i just blew mine out yesterday, not sure though, didn't have a chance to look at it

its probably not good though when both wheels turn forward with the brakes applied, and a clinking noise comes from the tranny case

Sounds like you are running in first gear at high speeds and are shifting into second WAY TO LATE . There is an ajustment for shifting later RTM it tells you how to adjust it properly. When I first got my JATO , I couldn't get into second gear until 60 yards or so so I lowerd the shift, now I can get into second around 35-40 yards.

its hard to tell, just adjust it and see where it gets you..

very small adjustments greatly affect the shift point

i looked in my tranny case and the gears shredded, so it looks like i will be buying the aluminum set

motorhead is right, you have to do 1/8 turns at a time and run the truck after each turn at least two high speed passes listening for when it shifts.

plastic or stock ? im not sure what you mean. Since I never opened my tranny I don't know what they are made of but one guy said he is getting metal gears so one would guess they are nylon .

im running the bronze gears in my tranny, and im running a big block Mach 427 (.26) and STSD28M, i just recently demolished the smaller bronze pinion gear when the grub shaft came out, smashing into the 2nd speed gear and ripping a nice chunk out of the gear as well LOL. Anyhoo ive replaced them with stock plastic gears again, and after about 2 litres with the MACH 427 the plastic gears are still fine.
