I believe the new OS .12 TZ would have more power. I was comparing it to the on road OS motors that people were putting in their Jato's. I do not know an exact HP for the motor. Just all depends on who you ask. It just has more power IMO. For me the RB V.12 has just the right amount of power and most of it is on the top end. And yes it is the 3 port.

m0rris -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/4/2005 5:30:13 PM)

hey guys.

I just got my jato but cant start usin till christmas. I have a question, what are the best offraod tires for the jato?

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/4/2005 5:59:28 PM)

it all depends on what you are going to be driving on. Are you just going to be bashing and having fun? Or are you going to be racing at a track?
As for a brand I prefer ProLine take a look at what they have.

Also rims can get very expensive over time. The Traxxas light dish rims for the nitro rustler fit the jato and they are great, but they break easy. you should check out www.rc-parts.com and their aluminum rims. I have had Lone Star rims on my Rusty for close to 2 years now. I have a set of shreds that will be here early next week for the Jato! Over time they pay for themselves. Plus I think the extra weight at the corners helps the handeling...imo...

Entropy -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/4/2005 9:23:13 PM)

Bling-bling, I just bought those Lone Star's from RCPARTS, good link, thanks R Man 5000. Hey, what battery is good for my Jato. I mean like, I guess it's a 5 cell flat but how many volts and amps is good?

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/4/2005 9:58:51 PM)

I believe that the 5 cell flat packs are all 6 volts and on the amps... the more the better, and the more $$$. The higher the number the longer it will last. But it will take longer to charge...depending on your charger.

You will love your rims from RC-Parts.com Bruce is a great guy!

Entropy -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/4/2005 10:47:45 PM)

Cool, thanks. Yeah I guess I should focus more on getting my Jato running right then pimp'n my ride. Is it normal for my HSN to be 6 1/8 turns out when factory settings are supposed to be 4 turns? This is the only way I can get it to run at all wiothout stalling. Also the pinch test for the LSN isn't right, it's shutting off in less then a second...The one thing I haven't touched is the idle needle valve. It's running HOT, like 270's and it's only in the 30's outside, just sitting there and it's will start to idle really fast after a while.

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/5/2005 4:59:40 PM)

sounds like your temps are too high. I don't remember the settings for the 2.5 as I have not driven anything with a 2.5 in a while... But I dont remember my temps being that high. is any blue smoke comming out the pipe? you may need to richen it up some.

bigmike882 -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/5/2005 6:27:25 PM)

he said he had it out over 6 turns, that seems really rich already, although its running at high temps. You probably have an air leak somewhere. Replace the fuel lines and see if that does the trick. If that does not do it, then there is most likely a leak somehere in your engine.

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/7/2005 9:21:36 PM)

Entropy - did you get your motor figured out?

------
I got in my rims for Rc-parts.com and they are GREAT!!!

Entropy -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/8/2005 7:10:14 PM)

Yeah, I haven't gotten it figured out quite yet. I'm pretty sure there are no air leaks since it's a brand new truck but I'll double check. I leaned out the HSN to 4 turns and it won't stay running when I give it any throttle at all...Yeah, I love the rims...R_man_5k, did you have to use the 2.2 conversion kit (which is a little washer for the fronts and replacement screws for the back)? I did, which takes out alot of side-to-side play in the front, but there's still some...Also my rims don't spin perfectly even, they wobble a little...

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/8/2005 7:44:13 PM)

I have no conversion kit. I have not seen a need for it. I used some small washers up front for a proper fit and I have never had an issue with the rear. But the only rims I have used are the stock, traxxas light dish for the N Rustler and the ones from RC-parts.com

bcyber -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/8/2005 11:05:04 PM)

Come on guys, are you telling me no one has a clue? No one ever wanted to put a larger tank in one?

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 1:06:26 PM)

I have seen lots of people here and on the traxxas board ask for a bigger tank and I have yet to see an answer for it. So I don't think anyone has had any luck finding a larger tank that fits in the Jato.

bcyber -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 1:23:04 PM)

Thanks for responding 5K

m0rris -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 1:41:16 PM)

hey on the proline site. the picture of the crowd pleaser body. What tires are those??
I want good tires for bashing.

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 1:55:40 PM)

They are the #1070-00 Dirt Hawg tires. They are good for off road and on road bashing. Also you may want to look at the #1120-00 Moab tires. I don't have them, but they look pretty cool...

m0rris -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 5:39:08 PM)

Thanks R Man 5k. I like the MOAB 1120's I think i will go with them. They look like they are good for offroad bashing.

m0rris -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 5:40:56 PM)

Is there a different size rim or anything I will need to get so it will fit, or will it just go right on?

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 8:32:22 PM)

the 2.2 Nitro Rustler rims fit. Remember to get 2 front and two back... You can use the Pro Line rims that fit the Jato/Rustler, Traxxas Light Dished are great or Aluminum can be found at rc-parts.com and RPM makes great rims.
Personally I run Traxxas light dished rims and RC-parts.com rims.

Entropy -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/10/2005 8:49:33 PM)

Hey R_man_5k, what size washers did you use in the front? Because even with my 2.2 conversion kit from New Era there is still a little side to side play. Yeah Bruce, is great to work with, I'm sending a front rim back to him for replacement because I've tried different bearings and one of them wobbles quite a bit. But other than that I love the look my new rims have since just about everything else on my Jato is aluminum too...

R_man_5k -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/11/2005 12:50:48 AM)

I will measure the washers tomorrow or Monday.... I can't remember what size they are... I pulled them from my 4-tec pro parts box. I had to put a few on each side in the inside and the outside.

what style rims did you get from rc-parts.com???

Entropy -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/11/2005 1:44:10 AM)

Right on, thanks. I got the Lone Stars but I'm really diggin' how those Shreds look on your Jato. That will probably be the next set of rims I buy.

bigmike882 -> RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread- (12/11/2005 1:50:16 AM)

I use 2 #10 washers for each front wheel. That works fine for me.
