I would charge it with a constant current at C/10.
Do this for 16 hours

but that is current...not voltage....(afaik)

if it is an 8 cell pack than the voltage is 9.6v...and I just checked my Futaba wall wart and it has an output of 9.6v

of course this is assuming it is an 8 cell pack

You can not go by voltage alone when you are talking about NiCad or NiMh batteries. You must put a load on them while measureing the voltage and even then, unless you have a history on that pack, voltage alone will misslead you. Do as Geistware said, charge for 16 hours at 0.1C the night before using it, even if you have a partial charge as, at the 0.1C rate you will not hurt the battery by overcharge. Also, the voltage you read out of your charger is quite useless in itself as well. Most of the chargers, if you have nothing hooked to them should read above 12 volts. As soon as you connect a battery to it, the voltage measured at the terminals will drop as the internal resistance of the charger circuitry and battery will lower it due to the ir drop in the internal circuitry. The only valid measurement without taking external circuitry into account is current.

It’s a bit late for that now as I fast charged it in about 40 minutes but it worked ok, the battery that came with the TX is only 600mAh so its not a big loss if something happened to it as I will be getting a battery with a larger capacity
