Status: offline 		I want to recover an old telemaster that I built in the late 70's. Some of the wood close to the motor is soaked with oil. How do I get the oil out??

Status: offline 		I've used a heat gun to help extract oil from the wood. Use paper towels to soak up any oil released by the heat . Be careful and don't get it too hot! Remember this though, you will never get out all of the oil---it is impossible. Once you are satisfied that you have removed as much of the oil as you can, paint the area with Balsaright. This seals the wood and will enable the iron on covering to stick to the model. If the model is really oil soaked I would just trash it. It is not worth the potential safety risk to fly an oil soaked model. The fuel attacks glue joints making them weak and the affected wood becomes soft and weak. The firewall could work loose and part company with the plane. This could happen in the air or on the ground---you'll never know when the engine could come flying out of the model becoming a meat cutting missile! Kevin

Status: offline 		K2R spot remover has been a popular method. I haven't looked for the stuff for awhile. Be careful as the stuff is not great health-wise and produces a white powder when dry. It's in an aerosol can and is sprayed onto the oily parts.

Status: offline 		make a past of corn starch and alcohol, brush it on ,after it dries check wood,might take 3 or 4 tries,also fill the area with kitty litter ,might take a few days to a week, depends on amt of fuel.
