RFD912 -> 30 to 50 conversion is it worth it? (4/29/2005 7:01:08 PM)

Thinking about getting a bigger heli and was trying to make up my mind if I should just convert my 30 to a 50 or just buy a 60 or 70.
My question is the convertion kit worth it? Im wanting a bigger one that i can get a body for.

Hell Yes!!

I have just up gradded to an OS50 Hyper and it is a very different heli. For starters it has almost twice the power for almost the same weight which means you can throw it around real easy and still have power if it gets all out of shape.

Multiple rolls and loops are easy.

I wish I had done it ages ago - come to think of it I started buying the bits ages ago; it was only last month when I finally got all the bits!!

I think the TT kit is very expensive, I paid £115 for my engine - from China, £52 for the kit (including baldes) and £20 for the muffler.

I E-Mailed Raptortechnique and asked him for his set-up file, which is now on his web site. So you can fly your 50 on Reflex XTR to see how it should feel if he set it up for you - it's fantastic.

I say but the bits for the 50 - mmmmmmmm shiney new bits. [:D][:D]

I went from the 30 to the OS 50 Hyper W/ MPII. I am only running 15%, but Holy Moses man! Tons of power and with the Green Shrek paddles, it is not even in the same machine. Fact is it scares the crap out of me so far, but what a blast. I guess I couldn't tell you about the 60 or the 70, I have only seen the 50 and the 90's. With 30% the 50's can do anything you want to throw at it. Plus its cheaper to repair.

Abso-fricken-lutely!!!

I tell most people that ask to get a 50 to start with cuz its only a matter of time before they want to upgrade it to a 50. This usually occurs seconds after thier buddy lets them fly a 50.

I have a 30 v2 and have not flown it yet...I do use the reflex flight sim...man o man the 50 v2 is so much better on there then the 30 v2....I can do so much more so much faster with the 50.

So is it worth upgrading a V1 as much as a V2 ir does it make no difference ?
Are thereany parts that need strengthening to cope with the extra power ( linkages etc )
thanks..
