John,
The ring on the front was shaped from balsa, bonded to the abs cowl, and finished with filler then paint. It was a pain in the a$$. Hope this helps.

Yes we saw it......CONGRATS!!!! Now I have to try to do mine that well or better if I can muster up my skills and find the patiance.
On a different note I just recived a CD from a company called Aero Pack. It is full of high res photos of the Searman from many different angels. This will help those of us who need help in building scale details. This company has many other photo paks of different types of planes.

Again Well Done!!! makes it worth while to have this after all the work.

Hi Buzz
I am having trouble getting cockpit details for the Stearman I presume the rear cockpit interior is nearly the same as the front one.
Where did you get your pilot from & you have different colour smoke, did you make it youself or buy it, if you made it do you mind giving out the secret ( I am on the other side of the world I won't tell anyone)
Regards
Ross

Ross,
The cockpit is identical front to rear. I don't have any good pictures for you to view to help here. I would suggest searching the internet for Stearman photographs, with a little work you should be able to find some helpful photos. I use superdri smoke oil which emits a blue type color. The pilots came from Germany via Axel's scale pilots. Hope this helps!

Is Axel still in Business. I have emailed them several times about a pilot for my Stearman, but they do not respond.

Great! I went to his German site and typed him an email in English. He responded and sent the product as promised. This is the route you should take to purchase from Axel.
