My Mvvs 2.15 with walbro carb was broken in on a test stand about a 18 months ago. Since then it has been sitting on the shelf. Should i expect the diaphram in the carb to still be pliable enough to function properly? Are there ways to preserve the diaphram for long term storage? Ill be running the engine in about a month or so and am wondering if I should purchase a spare diagram just in case. In general, how long do these diaphragms last? And under which storage conditions?

Regards, Johan

Johan,

These Walbro carburettors are available both on ignition (gasoline) and glow (methanol) versions of this engine.

In the gas version, there is no reason this diaphragm should last less then a few years, both in storage, or in use.
They should hold the same as those in agricultural machines, with similar carburettors.

With methanol it is a different story. The diaphragm material deteriorates over time, so the periodical replacement is of the essence. It should be done every 6 months, or so. Less if stored dry, than if used.
