Hey when i went to tighten the pilot shaft down the flywheel is hitting the engine plate, is that normal? or do i need to trim the plate? Im thinking i tighten the pilot shaft too tight, but couldnt be right?

OH I forgot about that tiny detail. you need to put a washer or two behind the flywheel otherwise the pilot shaft will bottom out before getting tight. I took the pull starter off and the haxagonal one way bearing off and held onto the crank shaft with a vise grip with cardboard in between, as not to damage the crank shaft. Very important to take off the one way bearing and grab the shaft only. If you found another way to hold the crank then nevermind.

I had to purchase a shim kit from local hobby store. I think I used 2 washers or one thick one right against the main bearing on the motor to get just enough to lock down pilot shaft. When I got the kit I just found the washer that fit the best around the crank and about the same size as the main crank bearing on front of motor. You aren't trying to use the spinner piece that came with the motor are you? sorry I forgot to mention all this!!! P.S. I got AIM now and added you to my buddies... so I'll look for you online then I can help more.

actually its not working. But about the truck, the flywheel is on good and tite i didnt have problem with tightening it, it was this the flywheel hitting the motor plate so i bend rthe plate back and it fits good. but then ppl were talking bout the spacer which there is not one on my truck, i was jus panincking
