What are we talking about here - SJN's flight, or Chrigui's pics?

Sweet, Chrigri

Seems to start nicely, and runs quite cool (if that temp gauge is accurate).

yes ... before first run i calibrate the etg probe

you can see 92° at start because the engine was stopped 3 minutes before

changed some parameters like acceleration deceleration, pump start point..

Hi All

I've got a second hand JJ1200 which I have had apart and put new bearings in, It all seems mechanically sound ( I followed all the guides and advice in this forum)  I purcheased Wren (xicoy) Fadec and Hausel fuel pump for an MW54

I have a couple of questions..

Can I use a servo tester for the throttle signal to the fadec or does it have to be a radio set ?        I'm ok with mechanics but electronics I'm a newbie

I'm struggling to set up the starter motor position consistently, the legs are badly made and its all a bit sloppy, I ordered some new legs and screws but they're just as bad

Does anybody have any tips on setting up the starter position ?

Many Thanks

Jaz

Hi Frema

it is a bullet starter, If I tighten up the 3 legs the starter cup is off centre, I can centre it with the legs loosened, but its all a bit too floppy, the legs screw onto the starter securely but the threads in the othe ends are very poor even the new set

Cheers
Jaz

Thanks Frema

its strange,  I thought 1 of the 3 legs had a stripped thread as none of the screw would tighten fully in that one leg, so i ordered another full set of legs and screws and they are exactly the same problem

when I fasten all the screws as fully as I can the Bullet is slightly off centre, when activated the cup vibrates on the compressor nut and will then will not retract when the starter is turned off

I have a lot of these around my shop.  Perhaps the holes in the cover are not drilled at excatly 120 degrees.  I have had the same issue a few times.  Since you appear to have the same thing with two assemblies, I would check the cover or perhaps drill a different cover to match the bullet assembly

Shim 1 or 2 legs to center the starter or drill new holes. Make sure all legs are equal lengths.Drill and tap next bigger size on the stripped hole.

So Im curious what to do now, at least options. I have a 1400 that I am overhauling. Replacing bearings and cleaning it up. I decided that I wanted to replace the turbine wheel and shaft. I need to get a shaft still but got the wheel from JJ some time ago. Anyway Iv noticed that the new wheel is not the same width as the old one. The old wheel was .451" and the new one is .424 thick. The lost thickness is off of the front of the wheel so it would ride closer to the can.

Thoughts? From those who have been inside their engines...

Yes I got one like that as well dont know why it was changed, I havnt tried it to see if it will be too close to the NGV. Maybe before it was too far out and loosing efficiency I cant really remember. I have a stripped one so will have to look.

It seems to have clearance from the NVG but the issue becomes that there are not enough threads on the shalf to tighten it down. I think it might be ok to shim it with a spacer on either side, just have to find one that would fit tight enough to not throw it out of balance too far.
