er, ah, "interesting" video - just a bit curious why the guy with the gear up opted to land belly up on the ASPHALT instead of the softer grass.......

The stangs in this video were all very nicely done and the guy behind the camera did a great job filming. The landing?, curious,
maybe he was trying to get the gear down until the last minute? Oh well, woulda, coulda, shoulda.

The red tail is the one with tail wheel problem on take off and retract problem on landing. The wipe-out on take off is caused by a stripped tail wheel linkage. On the final landing, one of the main gears fails to come down, so he opted for belly landing. The asphalt landing didn't hurt much; just a few scrapes on the bottom of the BCM muffler exhaust stacks. Those things are tough.

I was doing the filming. They didn't even know I plan to film it. I just showed up the airfield w/ the camcorder to have someone film my 3D flying. Then I saw 2 brothers flying Tuskagee style. So I thought I couldn't miss the golden opportunity.

The actual filming is like 15 minute long, and there are a lot of "bad" filming, such as the MIA factor, trembling factor, arm fatigue factor. Of course, all my booboos are promptly edited out. In fact, Curtis attempted the belly landing 3 times before finally touch-down at the spot he wanted. But hey, thanks for the complement.

Belly landings suck on asphalt...but its better than catching a wingtip on grass and cart wheeling the plane to death. Give me the asphalt anyday.
