    Although the ACE/Thunder Tiger distribution network differs from the SD business model, they seem to be here for awhile.

    The last time I talked to Troy Built, he explained to me that the reason he can't carry them anymore is because of the way
    the current dealer network is set up.

    No longer can he, or big suppliers like him get the quantity breaks he once did.
    He pays the same price whether he wants to buy a few, or quite a few.

    Quantity pricing is how the bigger more established distributors were able to make some money on a volume purchase.


    On a different note, work is definitely cutting into my hobby time lately.
    I need to establish my priorities here

    Status: offline     		Every time I go to TBM, I only see one size available. The SD models are different than TOC-E, not by much though. Mine is half way there (repaired). Its amazing how much abuse it took, went straight down & in and only the engine box has broken. I got the engine back from DA, a new shaft extension bolt and hub, about $60. I have the gaskets, I plan on making it to your house next Wed. I'm flying tonight after work, just the Fusion.

    I have the older TOC1 Yak 54, the 50cc version that is red, silver and blue. Anyway, my movers lost the main gear. I'm looking for either an aluminum gear with axles and wheels, or information to where I can get them. Any help will be appreciated.
    So, if you have a set of the aluminum gear laying around, since you upgraded to carbon fiber, with axles, please shoot me an email. Or, if you know where I can get what I need to get back into the air, please email me.
    The distance between the holes for the gear on center is around 11.5 centimeters.

    Status: offline     		I there! Just ordered mine, with a DL 50, cant wait.. Have read the whole thread. and it seems that the older yaks were heaver than the newer ones, or are you guys jus better at saving weight? Surly I want to be light as possable, with smoke and a power expander. But if the DL 50 doesnt give me enough hovering power than what would you guys recomend for a, not to costly, upgrade in power?? Thanks for your help, im sure I will have more questions when yak showes up and i start to build..

    Status: offline     		My advice is to save your money on the power expander it's not necessary in a 50cc plane. Use the money you would have spent on it to get a DA50. Trust me you will never hurt for power. You will love this plane it is a one of the best flying planes I own.

    Status: offline     		I already have a power expander, bought it from having a bad experance with my new 2.4... like the extra insurance... So you think the DA has alot more power than the DL? specs are so close..

    Status: offline     		It seems like those two engines pull the same.

    The power expander is dead weight in a 50cc. Just run A123 batteries and you'll never have a power issue even with 2.4. Besides, a power expander isn't going to do anything to prevent a power issue. If you suck down the batteries enough to force a reboot of the receiver, the power expander isn't going to save you. The smoke is dead weight also. If you want to make your plane the best at 3d, make it light. Will it 3d with the extra weight? Sure it will, just not as well though.

    Status: offline     		the expander was cause of a bad interferance problem that JR nor I could figure out the cause of it. But I do know i can do without the extra 1.9oz. Also what would be better. spend the money for CF all around, or jus spend the same $ and upgrade for bigger engine?

    Status: offline     		You do not need anything bigger than a 50cc engine on this plane. You will have more than enough power. A bigger engine is just going to weigh more and make it harder to balance. and increase the wing loading. Some people like the aluminun gear that comes with this plane. I think it is way to soft you can get either a carbon fiber gear from Graphtec, a better aluminum gear from TnT or check with Troy Built Models for a carbon fiber. If you are going that route also get the carbon fiber wing and spar tube and tail wheel. I will tell you that aluminum will bend carbon fiber however just breaks. I have gone through 2 carbon fiber landing gears. One broke on a picture perfect landing. The other was a dead stick that landed in a hay field. With that said I still prefer the carbon fiber. good luck and enjoy the plane.

    Status: offline     		Buy the Thunder Tiger TOC CF gear from Chief Aircraft. Much stronger than the Grapftec and it looks better also. Constructed of CF tow with CF cloth covering the outside thats visible. Totally different than the Graphtec. I've used this gear for over 2 years and it is money well spent. My plane has CF everything and it is still a touch tailheavy with everything mounted as far forward as possible and DA 50 w/stock muffler. At sea level it has an extreme power to weight ratio even w/Mejzlik 23x8.
