I put the CG at the recommended point in the manual and then I did the CG flying test. take it on a 45 upline , roll inverted and check to see if it pitches to the belly or canopy, I also roll the plane into a banked turn and see if the nose drops , it will drop a little but if it is alot then I move the CG till I think it is right. Then I fly some maneuvers to check it. I started at 6 1/2" back from the leading edge but right now I know I moved it so I am not sure what it is. It is a feel thing for me. I know I added some nose weight but not much. It takes me about 10 flights or so to get it right, then I move battery and what ever else I can to get the CG at the point I want without adding lead. IF you really want to set up a plane to fly great, there is a set procedure. I have a DPM edge 540 and Dave Patrick provided the cheat sheet to set up your model. I know it has been published by others but I dont remember who. I think it was in a magazine. It takes me about 60 flights before I finish everything but it is worth it. The top flyers use this or some variation that they came up with. We have a top competition pilot in our club and he does the same thing, he just used his own method. He has a new competition plane that should be taking its maiden any day now. He told me it takes him 60 - 70 flights to set the model up, but man what a difference when you do.

If you cant find it let me know and I will try to get it to you somehow, I work alot out of state so If you can find it on the web that would be better, try the IMAC home page.

I am still putting mine together, its the new red white and blue scheme. How much of the cowl do you need to cut out for cooling? and how is the landing gear holding up? looks a little weak to me

Landing gear has been good, I fly off of a nice paved runway. THe cowl I just cut the bottom to clear the muffler for the DA 50, I used a slimline pitts style, that was it...

I have one of these in the shop now. Hope to get started on it tonight. Going with a BME 44 as that is what my buddy had laying around. Servos will be 8411's all the way around. First impressions out of the box is very well made and well covered. I just finished up another Yak from someone else and was not as impressed. Depending on how the 30% goes I might get a larger one.

nice page aero, good stuff on there. The BME will come out a little tail heavy or should. It is lighter than the DA 50. So try to get everything you can towards the front as you are building. Good Luck

I just received mine today . All i can say is WOW !!! ARF's have really improved lately
I usualy prefer to build my planes , in fact this is only the second ARF i've purchased , but this thing looks impressive so far
I opened the boxes and inspected everything and did a trial fit on wings and stabs , everything fits very well and the covering job isnt too bad either.
I plan on using my old but very reliable Brison 3.2
This is the first GS ARF i've ever been excited about , I dont think i'll be dissapointed .

    Hey guys,

Very interested in this Airplane! I've been looking really hard at the WH Edge but I'm always open to Idea's.. I already have my equip. set as it's all I can afford! They will be:

    5645's on Ail./Elev.

    8611 on Rudder.

DA 50.. Either Stock muffler or Slimline Wrap around.

    2 NiMH Battery's (1 Ign. 1 Rec.)

How would this set-up work? What else would I need to buy? Thanks guys

P.S. How would this comare to the WH Edge

Mine will arrive mid next week, and I've rounded up all the stuff. JR 8611's on rudd/elev, 8411's on ailerons, MVVS 45 w/canister system...
Can someone measure the landing gear? Need height, track width, fuse width, etc?? Would much appreciate it!!!

(Also got mine in the Red, White, Blue.... fearful the silver would be invisible)

    aerobob,
Landing gear width at the axles is 22"
    Fuse width is 6 1/2"
Height is 8 7/8" from the centerline of the axle to the fuse plate

    Take care
