Status: offline 		I have a Dymond Turbo charger and the other day I was repairing a 18 vt drill pack (open cell). When finished I wanted to charge it but did not have the charger, so I hooked it up to the Dymond to charge. What confused me was the input voltage was 12.45vt and it charged the battery to 20.23vt. how is this possible-this is what confuses me on how it works. Does it look only at amperage or what? I had only used it on my airplane batterys before and never thought about it.

Status: offline 		This particular charger has what we call a DC to DC converter. It converts 12 volts to a higher voltage necessary to charge the number of cells is is designed for. It basically takes 12 volts, chops it up into a sort of AC wave, then via a transformer steps it up and then rectifies the output to a higher DC voltage. This is a fairly common practice in 12 volt chargers designed to charge more than 8 Ni-Cd or Ni-Mh cells.

Another question about this charger-is it possible to charge LiPo's with this charger?
