I've just recently gotten my video system up and running. So far so good. I've actually gotten some good footage. I'm using a wireless cam run through a DVD Xpress unit to get the video into the PC, and from there I have used the DVD Xpress software (CapWiz 3.1 and Video Studio 7) to dicker around with editing, etc. I've ended up with some great videos that are about twenty seconds or so long......and run about 75MB.

How the heck do I get these movies small enough to upload/download anywhere? Help a dumb biker, it can be your good deed for the day.

I assume by "compress" you mean decrease the file size. Your software should be able to do that. It depends on how you save it out (render) and the specific features that are a part of your software.

I would recommend saving it as a WMV file. Most packages have presets that are named in a way that relates to connections speed. (For the viewer that may be downloading the file.) Look for a preset that suggest a 256 connection. That is usually a good compomise. I usually render my videos in both 256 and 1M. (In actuality, the number means nothing. Render in the lowest resolution that gives you acceptable image quality.)

Hope that helps.

I too ended up with giant files for movies. The best solution for me was to use Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP. Just load the movie in the program, edit as you see fit (opening scenes, introduction, etc..) then save the file and select a smaller (custom) size. As you select the smaller size, it will show the total file size before you hit OK. Reduced my 30 Mb file to about 4Mb and still looks good. Now I can share with the world wide web audience.
