Status: offline 		I have a 72 inch laser 200, the specified engine for this plane is a 4 stroke 120, would the 160 twin be a worthy alternative to the 120 in this setup as far as power, weight and reliability is concerned?

Generally, people ignore the recommended maximum engine size. I'd think a 1.50 or 1.80 four stroke single would be a more popular engine in that plane.

On the other hand, if you think a 1.20 two stroke will fly it nicely, the ASP 1.60 twin will fly it.

A rough equivalent is q 1.60 twon equals a 1.20 single cylinder four stroke, the 1.20 4s single is equivalent to a 1.0 two stroke single.

remember, this is a ROUGH equivalent.

Status: offline 		I am going for the coolness factor at the moment, besides the saito 150 I was thinking of putting in this plane is about the same price. I have also heard the saito 150 runs kinda rough(in terms of vibration) and the 160 twin runs quite smooth. Is this true?

Quite true. The Saito 1.50 and 1.80 can really shake things up if not adjusted correctly. The ASP/Magnum/OS 1.60 is an alternate firing twin, really a smooth running engine. And as you said, the "Coolness" factor enters.

For real down and dirty "Ultra Cool" you need to use the flat four OS 3.20, or a radial with five cylinders or more. For me, the three cylinder radials just "Don't make it."

Status: offline 		The 160 twin seems to be a trouble free easy to tune engine but as Bill say's the power is not much stronger than the 120 single. But its got that cool looks and sound.

Status: offline 		I have seen the os 320 flat 4 and it was very quiet(it was difficult to hear over other engines), I wonder if it is possible to make them a little louder.

Status: offline 		Oh, am I right in assuming this is a ringed engine, I am pretty sure it is but just wanna check. I have a vw 1600cc flat four but that is for another project I am working on, besides i probably couldn't afford the amount of lead required for balancing.

If that is up around 14 ozs. or better (500 ml ), I would think it would be fine.
I don't expect the twin to be a gas hog.
