    Thanks LICobra!!
I did everything except for the stars & bars, fuel caps, & D-Day stripes. The decals were made from a high resolution scan of a 1/32 scale Cripes A Mighty the 4th decal sheet. Thanks to Sam Sox, one of the 352nd FG historians.

I resized everything in Adobe Photoshop and printed them on clear &/or white label paper from Office Depot. Some of them came out too faint, so I ended up painting on the decal to improve it. I ended up painting "Cripes A Mighty", the pilot name on canopy rail, the barbers pole, the red & white on the guns and trim tabs, and under the exhaust stacks.

    The rest were, print-peel-put on.

I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I put a lipo battery in the stock Parkzone P-51-D, as the instructions say. I did this after removing the J3 jumper as per the instructions. I am using an 18c 2100 mah 3S1P 11.1v lipo battery. I ran the stock P-51 with the stock motor for 3 minutes at 3/4 throttle with this lipo battery. If I understand the instructions, this is OK, but I smelled something hot and shut everything down. The motor was so hot, it took 10 minutes to cool down enough so it could be touched. I am afraid if I ran it any longer, it would have burst into flames. I am curious if this is what the designers of this plane had in mind when they said in the instructions that a lipo battery could be used? I am thinking not. Has anyone had any experience with this before?

Yes, I did run it as a static test. (Oops!) I won't do that again! I suppose the thing would have burst into flames had I continued! Good thing I stopped when I did! I was trying to see how much time I had before I would have to land. Let me know how your follow up flight goes. I am interested in knowing if your motor is so hot you can't touch it. I hope I did not cook mine too badly. Can you recommend a better brushed replacement motor that will fit with the stock motor mount?

There is a much simpler way of seeing how long you have in your battery. The only thing it requires is a Battery Charger that will display the number of mAh that has been put into the battery, such as a Swallow or B5 charger.

So... time your flight (make it a short one if you are worried) say 5 minutes. Then, charge the battery and take note of the mAh that was put back in. If it took say 1000mAh and it is a 2200 mAh battery, then you could fly safely for 10 minutes. if it took 500mAh, then you could fly for 15 to 20 minutes etc etc.

I do this with all my aircraft to be sure that I don't run out of power in the air. I never run my batteries to the cutoff point.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers

Yeah a static run like that can kill a motor quick!

Did another flight today to test the issue, it was fine. Put about a 6 minute flight on her before the wind started bouncing me around, and decided it was time to bring her in. That's the 6th flight on this one and still a streak of great landings! It's really awesome to have a plane I don't have to worry about anything weird happening to, just fly it and have fun!

Today was probably the most fun I've had at a flying field.

Even though I only got 1 flight each on my F-15 and P-51, I made the most of it.

I started with the F-15 doing loops, rolls, low passes and verticals. As usual, the wind didn't do a thing until I was plugged in and ready to launch. So I had to wait about 5 minutes for it to die back down, then it was FUN time!! The wind still knocked me a around a little but not too bad while flying the F-15, and made my BEST landing ever with it too!

P-51 time.... well what can I say? Lt. Smash was flying his Sukoi, and we had the coolest dogfight!!! I've never really tried dogfighting with the pony, but it's about the most exciting thing to do with it!! I had a bit of a crummy launch, (no crash) but got it up there to chase him around, looping, rolling, diving and climbing turns, you name it. Then on one low pass I did a shallow climbing turn, and the wind nailed the ole girl causing it to stall and roll straight down!! I recovered it at about, oh 4ft off the ground. Cleaned out my shorts, and did one more pattern. After that I was ready to land. I don't wanna kill this thing before S.E.F.F.!! Another perfect landing for a streak of 7 with the P-51. Man, I'm loving this bird!!!

There definately fun when you land (with no misshaps) to fly again, at least to me it is !!!. I fly in a small park, but I am by myself, my only dog fighting is with the sea gulls. I've only been flying since last Sept, I don't know what it's like to share the airspace.

Since my PZ P-51 upgrade to brushless, I just bought a PZ Spitfire replacement airframe and started the same upgrade. I'd like to fly both warbirds but im limited to one plane because of trunk space.

If anyone needs a stock 480 motor with a metal pinion gear, let me know I have 2.

What is the average flight duration the stock setup yields? I had a SuperCub and ended up getting 3 battery packs to get a satisfactory amount of flying time each night. I assume the P-51 or Spit would be similar.

My problem with the Supercub is the battery packs quit working after about 10 flights. They stopped charging.

    Showtime100,
As far as flight duration time, I haven't really timed the 51, but we put a 2200mAp 25c in my friends 190 and got a 14 minute flight out of it. I'm hoping to give the P-51 a duration test today, as well as test a mod to the aileron servo connection. I'll let ya know when I get back.
