TM..thats good it's repairable....personally im on my third bird....smashed the first due to radio interference...and I mean no usable parts left....the second still hurts me to talk about...but it was a beautiful upgrade to brushless with esc, servos and new radio...I felt so confident that nothing can bring this bird down...fast , powerful and goes vertical...well....I was flying with a building behind me and as I was going through some low level manuvers and the last manuver was flying at 6" towards my position....after the mustang was close to my position I started to pull up..so I didn't bother to turn my head cause... I figured it would clear the building...well I was wrong....this thing hit so hard that the prop shaft imbedded itself in the wooden frame about 15 ft off the ground...I got it down and saved the motor and all electronics....I still hear the noise of that impact......I bought "another" replacement airframe..and once again Frankie's back in the air protecting the local field from seagulls and geese.

Hi guys, I've been lookng after my family first and popped in to say hello.

ploesti, thanks for trying to rescue this thread.

french, I hope you click on "notify me via email when someone replies" box below. I found that worked for me at the height of my addiction to this site. Hope you get the "favorites" move down too. Ive got just specific pages like "how to" mods etc. saved in my bookmarks.

turbamike, that sucks that the light pole hit your plane. did they onlookers see it happen?

in this pic is my favorite park to fly at in sacramento , Ca. Look at the lower left corner of the "huge open park" and there's a white sidewalk. It's actually a RAISED area that is above the rest of the park. So (I'm aware that Nobody Cares)... My low fly-by is actually looking eye level or even down on the warbird . Lately LOW flight has intrigued me. I was a "speck-flyer" when i started because i felt safe way up high. Now I really enjoy the low flight a lot. So the park with a "slope" allows me all kinds of fun.

    Nobody Cares.

Sinai - about a quick way to wend my way back to a long tread:

I took what the guys said and tweaked it at bit. (First, you've got to know I keep a short Word document of techical notes from this thread)

Now, when I'm done for the day going part-way through a long thread, I click on the blue-highlighted number that's in the upper right-hand corner of the last post I've read. For some reason, this automatically brings up a (dialog?) box with a link back to that very same post. I highlight it and paste it into my Word doc for use the next day.

The next time I want to return to my place in the tread, I start my dial-up as always, I open my Word doc for this thread as aways, click on the post "number" I saved to the Word doc, and I'm linked right back to where I was the day before. Works like a champ, and it's much faster than what I WAS doing. Then I erase the old link.

I still don't know why this blue highlighted link is on every post; it's probably obvious to everbody else, but there is no explanation on this site for graphics details like this - as far as I can tell.

    Stan

Pelosi how have things been? My thoughts about what happened to a lot of us "old timers" is that we have probably had different minor issues pop up with our planes and have had to decide whether to upgrade the electronics, really overhaul the plane with new stuff, or leave Frankie in the barn.

For me, the situation where my PZ P-51 (Mrs. Dee 3) stopped responding to any input and was just powering around and then responded to input just in time for me to pull her out of a dive, only for her to stop responding as I immediately brought her into a landing pattern, to then have her finally be saved from doing some damage to a bunch of cars in a far off parking lot (not to mentioned being a write off) by miraculously landing under no control from me in a narrow strip of grass between the parking lot and a chain link fence has had me concerned so concerned that I grounded her immediately last summer.

I spent the last part of the 2007 summer/fall and this spring trying to decide what to do. In the end I think that one of two things happened: The NiMh battery was failing (something that my test a couple of weeks ago showed as both packs are disposed of now), or the all in one Rx /ESC was failing and I would have to buy a new one. So for me it was a question of do I buy a new NiMh pack or two or get a lipo? Do I replace or upgrade the electronics? If I upgrade them do I use PZ items from the Spitfire or T-28 or do I buy a new system and install a new Rx, brushed esc and servos? This situation has kept me pretty much from posting on the thread since I haven't been active with my plane. I come on regularly to keep up with the new crop of P-51 pilots but I've simply had little to post about.

My plan right now is to get a LiPo that can be used in both Mrs. Dee 3 and my new F-18 that I'm getting and then maybe add a PZ P-51 replacement Rx/ESC unit so that I can start flying her again next month along with that F-18 I plan on getting. The P-51 is my All-Time favorite airplane so I don't think I will ever stop flying my PZ P-51. I am also going to buy my friends used Futaba 7 channel and get a Diamond 6 channel Rx to put into the F-18, that way if I really ever need to convert the electronics in the PZ I can get a brushed esc, Rx and inexpensive but good servos to put in her and be on one Tx. For now I figure that the easiest and least expensive way to go is to use the PZ Tx and electronics along with that lipo pack and go from there as it just seems like it would be a little too much of a pain (and extra dollars) to convert all of the electronics over at this point.

Finally, it would really, really, really be nice for PZ to re-release the P-51 with some better quality electronics, better quality aileron linkages, thrust angle set, battery cover/placement (think magnet, lol!), and motor. Isn't this the stuff that we have to "upgrade" anyway to keep what is probably the most beautiful electric P-51 on the market in good shape anyway? What do the other old timers think? A re-release would certainly re-introduce this wonderful plane and generate new buzz and increased following for it (read more sales), wouldn't you agree Horizon???? Wink, Wink.

These planes are disposable.Ive had 2 spitfires and 1 p51.The spits fly way better then the p51.You get about 20 flights out of a plane before it starts to go down hill. The servos give up.The radios start to act funny, the motors lose power. The battery's are the cheapest.God help if you put the slightest dent in one.I guess they are OK for what they are designed for.but,With the money you guys are spending upgrading and such you should buy a good radio and get one of the better park flyers on the market.
If you guys want a real nice park flyer get a great planes Seawind.
That Seawind is awesome.I fly it off grass. Will try it at the lake on holiday.
Oh ya haven't had a single radio problem since I bought my Dx7
    My 2 cents......
