I have a 3w-75 in a 31% Columbo Anderson Extra (21lb.). The power seems to be very good even though I only have 2 gallons of fuel ran through it. I'm turning a 26X8 at around 6500rpm. Will it get stronger after its broken in? The manual says I should turn a 26x10. Right now, I dont think it could ever turn a prop that big. Just wondering if it would fly a, say, 24lb. plane with authority, or should I start looking for a 100cc motor?

I have a Lanier Edge 540T that weighs almost 27lbs. My 3W75i with a 24x10 3W prop flies it quite well. I can hover and pull out with some to spare. The big difference is you're altitude. I'm almost near sea level. I'll be switching to a 26x10 next time out, looking for a little more thrust. If you can keep the weight down, you should be fine. I'm also considering putting mine in my 33% H9 Edge.

It will get stronger after you get more fuel though it. If you can "Borrow" a 24X10, try it. The 26X10 will be fine, some have used it as a break in prop, but I don't know if I would.

It will fly a 23.5 pound plane very well. Go to DRHobbies.com and the have a video of a 2.6 M extra and a 3W 75. check it out.

What brand of props are you guys using? I'm using a Bambula 26x8. Maybe thats why the rpms are low? I have heard that they don't turn up as fast as other brands?

For 3D, you are better using a larger diameter, smaller pitch prop made of WOOD. I find the only ones acceptable for that are MenzS, 3W, and Bolly - the 3 mentioned are still very noisy however (wood props are loud period).. Wood props are lighter and therefore spool up faster and wind down faster - gives you an edge in 3D engine management, esp during TR and hovers. I always break in with wood regardless.

I know there are those who swear by them, but I don't like Bambula props at all. I have tried several - new ones and old ones. In every case the Menz had more power and less noise. IMO you get what you pay for with the Menz props. (DA recommends the MenzS for max power out of their engines)

If you want to go Carbon Fiber the field is wide open - Mejzlik, Bolly, Biela, 3W, the list goes on.
The Mejzliks tend to be less "loady" than the Bolly or Beila and therefore you can swing the rated prop. I always prop down one inch on the Bolly, they are very heavy props.. but outstanding nonetheless.

I prefer Bolly or Mejzlik Carbon props, depends if need a more forward CG or not as to whether I use the Bolly.

I have a lanier 30% edge with a 3w-75i. It weighs exactly 24 lbs. The motor pulls the plane around with no effort. Verticle is achieved at 1/2 throttle. Just got a 3w-75ius going on a WH giles 202-can't wait to see it fly. The 75 side carb wieghs .5 less than the 75i. Really great motor.

I'm using a 3w 24x10 on my 75i. I do use a bambula on a zdz-50 I have and like it very well. The bambula props load the engine more so than other thick hub props. I'm going with a 24x10 3w on my new 3w-75us for my giles 202.

I like the idea of big diameter, smaller pitch props. Have always had good luck with this set up on other planes. I'm looking to squeeze every ounce of thrust, rpm, hp, out of the engine. Are Menz s the best "wood" prop to use? I'm not unhappy with the Bambula, but would like to see it rap up more.

I think the MenzS is the best prop. The Mens Ultra does not have enough bite for this engine and it is way noisy. The only thing that is a problem with the wood props is the noise. Wood props are going to make 15-20 Db more noise than a CF prop. I was amazed how much less noise was generated going from a 3W 26x8 to a Bolly 26x10 ... night and day.

The 3W-75 is a real workhorse and very torquey..

I am looking for a fast prop on my TF Giant Mustang P-51. Was told 22x12 (3 blade) would be a fast prop on my 3w75i? Due to time, I need to get a 2 blade wood replacement. I am not clear on pitch #'s, can anyone help? Thanks.
