Erdel,

I think you should be ok with the 13x6. It looks like the plane has enough ground clearance.

By the way, my Kyosho Sales rep is a Japanese from Kyosho Headquarter, so I will ask him about the covering and maybe something else that you guys want to know.

Ok, got reply from the Kyosho. The covering on Oxalys 50 will not have problems like the Majestic 1400. It's Kyosho's own covering for their ARFs.
One of the recommended prop was 13x7. Not sure if it is Kyosho prop or APC. (waiting on answers).
I will have 62mm Tru Turn spinners to go with the Oxalys 50.

My kyosho oxalys flies with an 12/9 APC but the 12/7 is good too, I will try the 13/6 (always APC) and will let you know if it will have more power

Hi Erdel,

i will using the YS 63 S with an APC 12X6 prop to go along. in fact, i am going to use the hatori mini pipe as well and the rigid header from hatori as well. the length is okay, as the pipe is 129mm long, which seats comfortably at the lg area as the area is "sunken" in. as for the header, i have an issue and i posted it on a previous post:

ORIGINAL: MontBlanc

great that should do. thanks!

will be using the new hatori short pipe hatori #640 and header hatori #643 for this plane, since the header is not in stock at my LHS, i needa get some clarifications. the firewall has a built in right thrust, so since the #643 is a rigid header and with the given right thrust, is it necessary to have the engine mounted at a slight angle so that the header will be aligned together with the center of the fuselage?

btw, athos7, did u use the supplied 260 cc tank or did u use a bigger one? thx

anyway, my LBS will be bringing in both the rigid and the flexible (#643 and #642) headers from hatori which is both used for pipe no. #640. as for now, i need to wait for the header to arrive and do some calculations to see if it would fit.

MontBlanck(Jeff):

Thanks very much for your info. I think that everybody in this forum would appreciate more pictures once you start building or assembling your plane. Does the mini-tune pipe in YS 63 does it really is for gaining more power? what is the advantage of using tune pipe in the YS engines?, i ask this quiestion because i am going to buy one for my plane but i am doing this because alot of people install tuned pipes in their YS`s engines.

Thanks again!

how does this airplane compare to the Cermark Javelin? The javelin has a longer fuse and the wing on the javelin is larger. 61.5" (fuse) 58" for the wing.

I think the Kysho Oxalys 50 has a 53 3/4" wing and a 57" fuse.

And does anybody know the wing area of the Oxalys 50? they don't list it anywhere?

It is 32.9 decimeter square dm^2 that is equivalent to approximately 510 sq.in.

It looks like the spinner size is incorrectly shown in the manual page 2. if it is a 57mm, it is 2.25". Well, I am going to have to call the Tru-Turn & Kyosho again.
I had to dremel out the 2.25" TT standard spinner to use the YS engine. Otherwise, Ultimate spinner is necessary to use Tru Turn spinner/adapter.

Erdel,
there isn't much of power gain on 4-stroke using a larger muffler (my YS 91AC gained about 100 rpm using ES carbon muffler for 120). Also, no manufacturers call them as tuned pipe. They are called just muffler. Benefit of the larger muffler is the quietness. None of my YS 4-stroke use the standard muffler that YS provided. However, I tried YS 53, 63, 91AC & FZ, 140L etc with stock muffler. Then used Asano, ES design, Bluebird, Hatori, etc mufflers to reduce the noise.

Anyway, I will probably have the Oxalys in stock next week.

Is anyone running a 4 stroke other than the YS 63 ? also with the YS 63 and the hatori pipe and muffler setup ,will it fit inside the cowl without making a cutout for it? and will it exit out the bottom with it?

MontBlanc,

So, what is the correct diameter of the spinner? Since it is Sunday here, Kyosho is closed and the Tru Turn is waiting for my call.

Hi,

i am almost done, but the tuned pipe and header is not yet in stock at my local hobby shop, and engine is not mounted as much yet as i need to see if a slight rotation is needed to accomodate the header, so juz gotta wait.... waiting "patiently" over here as well! just want to get her up asap.

Van waar kennen wij elkaar, help me eens even?

hallo Joeri,

Sorry the rest of my be posts will be back in Engish.

I've shipped couple of the Oxalys 50.

After first look of the contents, Kyosho did a wonderful job packaging. None of those Chinese built plane was packaged this nice.

Looks like I may have to build one instead of selling.

It looks like the 57mm (2.25") spinner is still a little small for the plane.

Will an OS 46FX be enough for this plane. Now I'm flying with the majestic and the .46 is just sufficient. Do you you think the oxalis will have the same performance with this engine, or do I have to look for a more powerful motor?

Frisko,
what is the all up weight of the Majestic 1400?
Based on my limited experience with some of the small planes (OK model planes) OS 46 w/ stock muffler was not enough beside the ugliness.
So far, Oxalys 50 looks larger than the Majestic. If the 46 is just enough to fly Majestic, you may want to use tuned pipe.
The test setup of production version of Oxalys 50 weighed 2500 grams (5 pounds 4 oz) dry. That is with 4 of 9252, 1x 9001, 136HP receiver, NR-4RB battery pack, OS 70 Ultimate. Yes, the Oxalys 50 was designed around YS 63, but test model used OS because of weight.
I am going to build one with YS 63 (electric setup costs way too much).
