Wow! Many hours of hover time since installing the GWS DD Tail and the motor is still going strong even with the G90 gyro! I was LUCK to get an hour of use with the old eflite motor! Love it!

I've had a couple BCP's for a while...went through a few 4 in 1 units...went through motors (main and tail), have the dual tail motor mod and have been running 3s1p 800 in it when I was flying it last ...got the B- 400, T-Rex 450 and a couple SJM 500's so I haven't flew the BCP for a while...went to fly it the other day and not much power...put in another new brushed motor and the same results...even in idle up barely enough to get a foot off the ground...pitch checks out good..I was wondering if I smoked another 4 in 1 unit......or could I get the BL conversion and would the 4 in 1 be okay? I don't know much about these integrated units.....it's a fun little heli to fly....wouldn't mind doing the BL conversion....but hate to buy another 4 in 1 unit...beside it, the parts are sooooo cheap....any help would be appreciated ....this BCP has an Airwolf body and 9 LEDs...looks pretty cool....look better actually in the air though.............

Could be the weight of the airwolf fuse. Are you running flat or symmetrical blades. flats wold give more lift at low speeds. also check main gear mesh so its not to tight

they're symmetrical blades(plastic, heavy) and it is heavy(tail mod, heavy duty skids)...but it was flying around good last time I flew it with the same set-up....is there an easy way to check those 4 in 1 units? I know NOW how you can keep feeding $$ to these helis....I will double check the gear mesh........it'll get a short burst of power from the start..(cooled down)...then wean right out... I'm sure the 3 cell li-po probably takes a toll on the 4 in 1.....................thanks for your reply.............

Good chance since the motors work its not the 4n1. It starts out good and then gets weaker? Then I would check out the battery.

    Hey Everyone,

I bought a Blade CP from a friend at work who never used it recently and have been flying it for a few weeks now. About my only MAJOR complaint is the tail rotor and how I have to constantly trim it as I fly and the voltage decreases. In order to improve the tail, I bought a dual motor tail housing and installed it. Not only did the upgrade greatly affect the center of gravity, but it also fried the tail rotor portion of the 4-1 unit. The unit still works perfectly but there is no voltage going to the tail now.

What I was wondering is how is everyone else dealing with the CP's tail control, and, what can I do to improve mine? Do I need to abandon the stock 4-1 and go with separate everything so that I can use a heading hold gyro? Is there anything else that I can do?

I really like the Blade CP, but the tail problem is aggravating, to say the least. If I could get better tail control the little heli would be so much more fun to fly and I could do so much more with it.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Ricky

Had the very same problem - could lift the heli past ground effect. lacked power. bouhg a new 11.1 800mAh lipo and problem solved.

I just bypassed it all and have been flying belt driven tail heli's....450's (HK 450 and T-rex 450) ...will not go back to a motor driven tail....ever....

Ricky, for the stock 4in1 or a separates brushed system, get this:
    http://ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/20743
    and this:
    http://ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/20744
It'll actually work fine without this last item (prop and adapter), but the props that come with that motor will make a whining sound that a lot of people don't like.
The cheapest way to repair it is to replace the 3in1. You don't need a complete 4in1. The 4in1 contains a receiver and yours works OK. The 4in1 separates (take the screws out) into a receiver and 3in1. You can also just replace the tail motor's ESC, but that requires hacking the 3in1. Actually, you may be able to just replace the mosfets if you can solder small things.
You don't need a heading hold gyro. If you're flying in heavy wind and doing aerobatics, I would recommend one. Otherwise, you don't need it. It won't make a whole lot of difference on a tail that's motor driven anyway. The DD setup will give you a lot more control.

Hey Gary - thanks for the great advice and education. I'm going to scrap the heading hold gyro idea, order the 3-1 and get the GWS DD. Any improvement over tail control, at this point, will be a god send. Aside from the tail, the heli flies fine (for what it it - a small, lightweight electric). I'm not really doing radical 3D with it - just some loops, rolls and inverted hovering. Unfortunately, backward flying is out of the question until I get more tail authority.

Again, thqnk you so much of the good advice and education.

    Ricky
