Does anyone know if the new Shermans, King Tigers etc... come with the gearboxes that have the ballraced bearings or the split metal bushings? I am wondering if the aftermarket bearing kits come with both gearbox bearings and roadwheel bearings, if they are different sizes?? What raises this question, though I know digger said he hans't had problems with his in two years, is an article I read on dansdata.com where he stated that he was having problems with the gearbox bushings which Tamiya was using as bearings. Again, I apologize for all the questions, I am trying to gleam as much as I can. Thanks for all the help that you guys have been giving me. Jeremy

jeremy,
do not worry about gearboxes. Dansdata review is talking about a old Serman gearbox, the newer ones are much better now.
get a tiger 1, it has much better details.

AKMopar:

They all have ball-raced final shafts now. You only have to decide if you want the Tiger, King Tiger, Pershing or Sherman. Look around at www.backyardarmor.com , www.etoarmor.com , and have a look at all the mods you can buy for them.

Allied or Axis, there is lots of support out there, open or buried in the groups.

If you intend to buy a Tamiya Battle Unit, check out www.RCACN.com and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/armornutsrcarmorhut/

When the form asks for a reason for joining, tell Justin that you want to buy a Tamiya tank, and need advice. He'll let you in.

Dansdata 's sherman has the first generation DMD gearboxes after the original clutch gearbox. those metal gears were just so soft. mine were broken too. but I think that is the best gearbox.
RRR, you can use DMD t01 drive your tank now.
